PLEASE just comment on whether or not I should retake..

Please just give me your feedback, you could save me a lot of pain and my Saturday morning!

I got a
800 W
780 M
and 670 CR..

I want to go on standby this Saturday for the sole purpose of getting a 700-720+ CR score so I at least break the 25-75% at the Ivy schools in CR. I really do think that I can break 700 with some hard work. Is it worth the effort/risk?

I would do Barron's Critical Reading workbook (and memorize ALL 800 words haha, SC are the main things that kill me anyways).
I am mostly afraid of dropping in W by 20-70 points; would colleges mind that?
I am not afraid of dropping in Math; I am aiming for an 800 also.

There is always the option of me taking the test, and if I feel like I did not improve then I can just have them not send it in to be scored.

PLEASE GIVE ME FEEDBACK!

It would be my third time taking the SAT

You don't need to retake. Your score's fine.

I would say retake it only if you are pretty confident that you can break 700 on CR. Your score right now is 2250/2400 which is really good but a 1450/1600 is goob, but not as good. And considering that people disagree about the true weight of the writing section, which you did the best in, I would take it one more time just incase colleges focus more on reading and math than math, reading, and writing combined.

thanks for the feedback!
anyone else care to comment?
if i got an 800 cr 800 m and 670 w i wouldn't care, but most colleges don't care about w

This is really up to you, I personally think that's a good score and wouldn't waste money/a saturday morning, but if you're confident that you can raise it at least somewhat significantly go ahead.

It's your call--your in a range right now where your scores aren't going to hurt your application in the least bit (i.e. no school in the nation would straight up reject you for those SAT scores). However, you're very, very close to hitting that range where your scores could be a big help for your application.

Well, you definately don't NEED to take it, but i think that it wouldnt hurt if u take it

well, theoretically most schools superscore, so it shouldn't hurt you.
are you definitely going to break 700? then yes

if you're unsure, then it may be risky...especially if it's the 3rd time

i would say retake b/c you can obviously get the scores, so if you bring reading up, you can get a 1500+ on M and CR, which is really what matters the most (and your writing score is, well, perfect anyway, so a superscore would definitely take care of that in case it goes down a little)

i agree with the above posters, if you feel like you prepared and can get 700+ definitely retake it
math and reading still tend to be the sections that colleges concentrate more on. i know uchicago doesn't even care about writing at all.
good luck =)

I would suggest retaking it

Consider you can get worse... I did.

I was in the same boat as you, two good sections and one section below 700. I had a 2260. I opted to retake, and my overall dropped to 2180....

on a sadly positive note, that bad section went up to 740 so... superscoring...

gryffon,

so would you recommend that I take it again?

if i do feel like i did poorly on the test, i could just tell the proctors to not send it in to score, and then it would not count against me, right?

and thank you so much everybody for the feedback, i really do appreciate it

it looks like i have some studying to do!
haha

and i also won't have a fun halloween! hah

Of course... just cancel if you feel like you did horrible, especially on the section you needed to improve most.
