I would say you have a decent chance at Harvard and should definitely apply, your SAT is great and you have a nice hook, but it’s still a high reach, as it is for almost everybody.

URM with 2310 = 75% acceptance… even at Harvard

I don’t think he is a URM. I’m assuming that he means Asian Indian not Native American though

nope sorry

Questions: What is your class rank? What is a “not bad” income bracket?

I would say you have a good application but with nothing particularly outstanding. You may get in, you may not. Who knows?

First, you say your GPA is out of 4.0, then you say 95/100. That doesn’t make sense to me.

You have the standard strong resume, so I’d say you’re in everyone else’s boat: maybe you have up to two or three times a chance of Harvard’s “actual” admit rate of 7%, but its still very much a reach school.

Indians are hardly a URM, I’m afraid. To put it simply, there are like 1.2 billion of you worldwide, and approximately 1% (2-3M) of America is Indian.

In addition to the info Mr. President wants, you should also list your major.

^Sorry to deviate, but does the major you want to pursue affect your chances of admission?

Colleges will be more willing to admit a candidate who shows a strong background in their prospective major.

I don’t know actually. Maybe if you choose an interesting major (or double major) you may have a higher chance. Diversity factor and all that.

No, they do not take your prospective major into account in terms of admission

Unfortunately, the reality is that you don’t stand out enough. From what I see, your EC’s are all over the spectrum without something unique about you. Sorry, but unless you’re legacy/sports/national recognized award winner, it’s not a hook.

Considering that you’re competing in the Asian pool as an Indian, I would say that your chances don’t make you an automatic admit, but also not an automatic reject. The main problem is that many of the asians you are competing with are qualified/more qualified than you. You have to find some special reason why they would take YOU over the thousands of others just like you.
