can i put my activities under this on the application instead of listing them in the tiny boxes? i realize they don't want to read 10 pages of activities, but if I chose 7 or 8 and then spent a few sentences explaining them, would that be alright? I am already sending in a separate sheet for other schools who require it, so i wanted to know if i could just leave the boxes blank and put the activities in the extra info section...thanks!

Better to list them in the tiny boxes. And if you have anything extra you can add it on the additional information.

If you write only on the additional info sheet , it could be misinterpreted as not following instructions or something of the like.

ok, I was wondering about that...

oh yeah, also, when it asks for awards/honors, i kinda have an issue. my school doesn't give academic awards for departments, etc. until the end of your senior year. therefore, a large majority of my awards are through sports (all-league, all-academic team, work-ethic award, etc.). i do have some leadership ones, like a few, but again, my school isn't really big on that. should i put down all the sports stuff, or some lesser leadership things? i don't want to look like an applicant who only cares about sports, because i'm not. that's just what i've stood out in. also, does team captain go in the awards/honors area, or in the activities section under leadership?

All academic team is sports:). Interesting.

Have a good mix of sports and community service awards. Even I didn't have many academic ones as my school was ultra competitive.

Team captain would go under leadership and put your lesser leadership honors in this section so as to rack up a tall list showcasing your excellent leadership skills.

ok, thanks. my school doesn't give out community service awards either (you could say that we're a bit lacking in the academic arena), but i described some of the cs drives i led in the ECs section, so hopefully that will do. i do have girls' state and a few other things besides sports, however.

also, yes, academic-team is for sports. the san diego newspaper compiles a list of scholar-athletes for each season based on academic and athletic accomplishments, and then publishes them. i figured it would be worth mentioning since it's a city-wide thing.
