Please Mr. UPS man, come our way!!!

Let the waiting begin for the UPS man. DHS results should be this week. Crossing everything I can that DD is lucky this week.

I know! I hope your daughter is lucky, but I hope I am too!

Have they already sent the things out, or will that be later this week? I hope the latter, if only so I don’t have to be anxious every day in school.

I am totally right there with you freaking out. ha.

The calendar says Feb 20, but this year that is a Saturday. But they could start mailing as early as Wednesday (since offices are closed today and tomorrow for Mardi Gras) or could wait until the next Monday. I wouldn’t think any longer than that. If I were a betting man, I would guess they will try and get them out Thursday or Friday. The latter would mean a Monday delivery.

Good luck to all of you who entered the competition.

I’m so nervous!!

I wasnt sure what they would do with a saturday being the 20th. The website says the decisions will be MADE by the 20th but they dont specify if notifications will be by then also. Hoping they dont come on Friday as we are travelling and it would be a bummer to not be home when it comes (I am using the principals of “the secret”. I am beliving it will show up so it will!!:P) LOL

Gosh, this Mom will be glad when all these scholarship deadlines are past. Too much to stress over! I feel sorry for the kids.

Good luck, everyone!!

fingers and toes crossed here for son!!

does the notification for community scholarship come out at same time?

I think that comes later

Correct. IIRC, the community service scholarships come out in March.

I read on a post from last year that some people received phone calls telling them they got the scholarship a few days before they got the FedEx package.
Do they always do that?

Actually cjohnson, I think what you read was people recalling that there used to be calls, although no one could ever really seem to confirm that. In any case, I am 90% sure there were no calls last year except for anxious parents/students calling Tulane (which I highly discourage btw). The big conundrum is that Tulane does not send out negative notifications, and so some people worry that theirs got “lost in the mail”. However this is almost impossible since they are sent UPS express delivery (I can’t remember if overnight or 2 day) and so Tulane gets confirmation. There have been stories of people not being home and so UPS left it with a neighbor and they forgot, or something like that, but otherwise Tulane knows that all of them got delivered. So if for some reason UPS could not deliver to a winner, Tulane would know fairly quickly and would take further steps.

ahh I see.
Guess I’ll just have to wait anxiously until that package (hopefully) comes.
Thanks!

We’ll all cross our fingers for each other! We just can’t let the waiting game beat us-no matter what we think, Tulane already knows.

Happy Mardi Gras everyone! I might be up here in the bitterly cold Wisconsin, but I can still celebrate!

So what do they send via UPS? We are living vicariously through all of you as my S is just happy to be accepted (and not a candidate for any scholarships!)

It’s the Dean’s Honor Scholarship (full tuition) and, for me, the John Hainkel Scholarship (full everything), since I’m a Louisiana resident.
We’re supposed to hear by February 20 by a UPS package if we get it.
Wish us all luck! :)

Well Cj, if you look at the Deans area on the tulane website it says decisions will be made by 2/20. It doesnt say specifically when winners will be notified. As Fallen has said the 20th is a Saturday this year so that is another question mark. Will they notify before the 20th or after Monday the 22nd? Who knows, but lets all try not to freak out if nothing comes by the 20th.

Just found DS’s DHS stuff. Granted this was now 3 yrs ago (hard to believe) - letter was dated Feb 15, which was a Friday, and it was sent via UPS next day air (says “extremeley urgent” on the bag). It arrived on Monday, which was president’s day. I remember b/c he was home from school that day (teacher work day or something) and I called to tell him that some posters on CC or the TU class of 2012 facebook pg or somewhere (can’t recall) were saying that pkgs were arriving. I apparently awakened him when I called, because he said, sounding half asleep, that there wouldn’t be any mail b/c it was a holiday. I said “Not via USPS, they are coming via UPS”. So he hung up the phone and begrudgingly got out of bed and went to the front door. I got a return call PDQ  Good luck everyone!!!

I just have to gush a little bit about how grateful I am to have all you wonderful faceless people out there. This process would have been agonizing if I didn’t know that I shouldn’t worry about not getting my letter while there are still people south of me that haven’t received theirs. I’m a worried person by nature, so I know myself well enough to know that I would be utterly miserable and snapping at everyone come Friday or Monday, because I would be tortured by the uncertainty: Did I not get the scholarship? Or did they just not send it yet?

You’re probably also saving my mom some medical bills relating to the pneumonia I likely would have contracted by insisting on camping out next to our mailbox. Or broken bones incurred by sleeping in the street for the same reason.

All jokes aside, thanks.

Also, I think every applicant this year would be agree that we are very grateful to have had FallenChemist feeding us the information we’ve so desperately been craving throughout this whole process, instead of having to wait on phone lines and talk to admissions officials who’ve already had long enough days. Fallen, your advice really has been invaluable, and those of us who get in, and achieve our goals in relation to Tulane will have kept our sanity intact in no small part due to you =)

I can practically feel Fallen blushing! As I’ve said on another thread, he and his “sidekick” should be tracking terrorists. We’d all feel safer!
