I am so glad that I found these post. I am also waiting to see if I receive the DHS but got nothing today. I live in North Georgia. Please, if someone receives something please post as soon as possible. UPS doesn’t deliver in my area until about 5 p.m. so I guess I will not only have to wait til Monday but wait all day long…waiting on all the decisions about admissions and scholarships is worse than applying and interviewing…Without this scholarship I won’t be able to attend Tulane but I have been accepted to some other good schools, but I really loved Tulane and NOLA! Good luck to all!!!

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE

well…I’m an unusual candidate
Cuz’ there is an agreement between my high school and Tulane, I don’t need to take the SAT and I’m certainly accepted. I gotta 87 in TOEFL, unweighted GPA 3.66 and top 10% in class. I have enrolled in lots of clubs and gotten several academic awards. But without SAT scores, AP course…HOW RISKY IT IS!! Besides, I am an international student. I sent a DVD about the culture of our country and spent plenty of time on the DHS project.
…I am so nervous aboout it. Is there anyone could tell me what you think my chances to get the scholarship? Thanks in advanced!

For me, may be it will takes two more weeks to get the mail… what a painful process. Hope it won’t be a childish dream

…I live in the opposite side of the pacific ocean
Hope they can come to here as soon as possible( within a week)

I noticed that someone had posted that they found the shipping package that was sent out to there d or s last year. I thought you needed a tracking number to track for UPS but when I went on there website I found out you can track if you have the shipment reference that Tulane uses…I don’t know if they used numbers or the university name or what…but if whoever that was could look at their old package from UPS and find the shipment reference, it may be the same again this year…so please go to UPS and put in the info or give me the shipment reference and I will check it out…wow we are all going to have breakdowns before next week…LOL

I remember coming home from another school’s Honors Weekend 2 years ago (2008) and my son finding the UPS package on our doorstep on Monday - Presidents Day. I will never forget the excitement and pure joy on his face when he opened that pacakge! Good luck to all of you who are waiting. We’re in NJ, but I seem to remember not everyone who got the DHS that year received it on Monday - they seemed to trickle in over the course of a few days.

I have the envelope, but don’t know what the “shippig reference” humber is. I see the trcking # and a # that has 2 letters in front of it representing our state, so that can’t be it. Sorry…

Oh well…guess we will just have to wait…and wait…and wait…LOL

This is what the UPS site says to use if you don’t have a tracking number…I was just hoping that Tulane always used the same shipping reference, but I don’t think UPS requires this…just our luck…

Track by Reference
When creating a shipment, you can assign a reference to it such as a PO Number, Bill of Lading Number, or customer name. Use this predefined reference to track your shipment.

It is probably the number with your state in front of it…but that number may not always be used. Are you waiting on notification of the DHS this year? If you are I would try that number. When you send something through UPS it will automatically be assigned the tracking number but on the form it gives you an option to enter another number, words or anything that you would like to track the package by. I would think that most would want a back up to track packages so I bet they use the state and number listed on the package.

OK, I think it is time for the deep breathing exercises. Inhale, exhale…

But I certainly do know more about how UPS works than ever.

The basis for thinking they went out Friday is Dad55’s post #33. If his source is mistaken, then of course this could all have been for naught. However, the timing is consistent with past years.

As far as CHwings situation, I am afraid none of us (I am assuming) have any real experience or insight into how Tulane would handle your fairly unique situation.

Ok…deep breathing exercises have started…but I can’t believe what I did find out about tracking UPS packages…totallly off the subject but I went to tracking by reference and put in my state abbreviation, zip code, chose United States and it shows all packages sent to that zip code, not to any particular address…I really don’t think that information should be available to everyone. It didn’t ask for my address. It will show the names that signed for packages, date delivered or date of expected delivery with tracking numbers. I think UPS needs to find a more secure way for people to search without tracking numbers. I feel like I have information about these people that shouldn’t be available to me. Of course it does say…UPS authorizes you to use UPS tracking systems solely to track shipments tendered by or for you to UPS for delivery and for no other purpose. Any other use of UPS tracking systems and information is strictly prohibited. But that is after all the information is on your screen!

lol fallenchemist!!! our kids are sleeping late while we breathe deeply!
i’m really not expecting to see a ups truck as son, while a great student, had a 33 act which is lower than usual winners of dhs. this is more an exercise of being able to put tulane into the acceptance list knowing how much is needed to make it possible, i should be able to remove the question mark by next week. and although he applied for the community scholarship also, (he has good ec/leadership etc) he didnt save the world.

So true…I don’t think we will see the UPS truck either, but still hoping. My son didn’t put as much time into his project as he should have and after reading what some of the students projects were, I think he might be marking Tulane off his list. He is also a great student and was accepted into Tulane’s honor program, but stats are lower than the past recipients. But it will be a step closer to the final decision of which college he will attend because without the DHS, Tulane is not an option.

Years ago, my S is an 08 Alum, he received a phone cal long before anything ever came in the mail.

stefanheltton-
I tried using the “tracking by reference” with the numbers on the shipping envelope (from 3 yrs ago) but no luck. How did you get your method to work? The link I found rwequrequires something inthe shipping referenceline, and nothing I tried worked

Ahh- never mind stephan- I think I figured it out. Did anyone else try putting their state cod and zipcode in to see if there is an expected delivery?? Anyone want to give a state/sip codee and I’ll try it out??

Keep in mind, they may not be using UPS this year… but I am happy to try it out for any of you

@ concerneddad - I think Dean MacLaren was not Dean of Students then, but I am not 100% sure of that. I found a reference that Cynthia Cherrey was Dean of Students in 2006 when the students came back from Katrina, so I guess that she probably would have been DOS when he got the scholarship. I only know for sure that my D did not get a call last year and neither did the students from the year before. Maybe it changed when Dr. MacLaren became Dean of Students.

jym626 i got to the page to track but what do you enter for reference number?

the initials of your state

the initials do not work, at least for me they don’t

did you add your country and zip code?
