Please, please chance me! I'm freaking out!

Would you guys mind chancing me? I'm happy to chance back or whatever but I seriously need some advice/support on my situation.

ACT:29

GPA: 5.3/5.0 weighted or around a 3.9/4.0 unweighted I believe (I haven't crunched all the numbers it's an estimate but my GPA is strong.)

AP's:
Junior- AP U.S History, AP English, AP Physics (All A's)
Senior: AP Biology, AP Calculus, AP English (All A's)
AP Scores- 4 on U.S History

Other courses: I'm in my fifth year of Spanish, and I'm currently in Creative Writing.

Extracurriculars: Campaign Manager/co-founder of Red Cross Club at my school, Secretary of NHS, Member of Spanish Honor Society. I volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, Soup Mobile, a Children's Advocacy Center in my city, Measles Initiative and Relay for Life.

Essay: Pretty strong. I explained my experience of going through my older brother's drug addiction with a metaphor.

Hook: I go to a project based learning school- A New Technology High. It makes me stand out, I think?

Problem: I completely ruined my Grinnell supplement essay (The "Best Advice"one). I found a major typo and it definitely comes off as rushed because I completed it only hours before.
How critically do they check the supplements/does it count for a large part of the admissions evaluation? Basically, if I completely screwed that up, do I still have a shot?

I applied as English and second choice International Studies or something along those lines.

Thank you in advance!

I can’t believe I’m admitting this but… I misspelled an author’s name that I was quoting. Not terribly, just one letter.

And you’re right, it’s not the end of the world. Grinnell isn’t a top choice because I feel as though I’d struggle to fit in. I’m fairly (morally) conservative, anti-drug and alcohol, and Christian. From what I’ve heard I would be as rare as a unicorn up there…

lol…this is nice to hear…“rare as a unicorn”… are you a female Fleetfoxes? coz if u are then i can agree on the UNicorn thing…did u ask for financial aid?

Yes, I’m female. I filled out every single form (FASFA, school specific forms) for Grinnell and sent them in on time. Now I’m just waiting. Grinnell typically gives out great financial aid apparently.

yes it does…

A `major’ typo is when you end your Grinnell essay with “and that’s why I think I’d be a great fit for University of Michigan.” A misspelling is not a major typo. And if all the schools rejected every applicant with ‘a major typo’ there would be no one left to admit.

Frankly, your best strategy for admission these days at most top LACs would be to identify yourself as a conservative Christian. Schools love diversity, and you would certainly contribute. Not that you would be alone at any of the top LACs - just a minority. And by the way, sub-free housing is a very popular option at Grinnell. S lived sub-free for his entire time and met lots of great people with other ideas about how to have a good time.
