Please Please Chance Me!

I have to decide this week whether or not to apply Ed, so I can get an interview. I love Duke but my parents would prefer I visit more colleges before applying ED. I think my best chance is ED.

white female, mid-Atlantic, competitive public high school
SAT I: 2250, 710 CR, 770 M, 770 W
GPA 3.8 UW, but "upward trend" throughout HS, so junior year was 3.9
8 APs, hard course load (4 APs last year, 4 this year)
5 AP Environmental
5 AP English
4 AP US History
3 AP Physics (ugh, and I sent the scores - thought I had to)
AP scholar with Honor
Always on Top Honor Roll (our school's highest honor)
SAT II: 710 US History, 740 Mat 2C (will retake SAT1s but won't help for ED)

Captain Basketball Team (but not good enough to be recruited)
teach basketball to under privileged high school girls
Softball
VP of school
President of Business Club (and founder)
President of Latin Club
work with autistic child one-on-one 8 hours/wk, for 4 years. Child made a lot of progress - will be my essay
various other clubs, volunteering
paid to tutor math

took summer school courses at 2 Ivies but I like Duke better!

Traveled extensively (due to parents, so I don't know if I should mention that)

Recs: Guidance counselor will say that in addition to being a good student I am a leader in the school, participate in everything, make friends easily, etc.

What do you think? Do I have a good chance ED? No hook, unfortunately.

Depends on how badly you want to go to Duke.
For RD, I'd say you are a 50/50 case- you may get in- you may not.

Only apply ED if you know you want to go to Duke, not simply because you think its easier to get in. I think your chances are pretty good for ED and I think the worst that will happen to you is a deferral.

That's at least why I personally didn't apply ED anywhere- I didn't feel ready to commit to a college.
