Please, please, chance me?

I am in love with both Brown and Stanford, but I don’t know if I can get into either. If not it’s UC Santa Cruz for me, so…
…oh, and I’m a junior, so I haven’t taken all of my IB and AP tests yet, applying for 2015

-SAT: 740 CR, 720 M, 710W in one sitting, 2170
-AP: 4 in US History
-public school
-IB: diploma anticipated, 4 in SL Chem (really good for my school, we basically self taught ourselves the IB curriculum)
-GPA: 4.0 unweighted (out of 4.0), 4.7 weighted
-ethnicity: African American (and Caucasian, I’m biracial, but will play up the minority, since I look more African American. Is that wrong?)
-geographic location: Northern CA
-income: ~80k
-no ACT, school is weird about rankings, meaning they give them but at odd times, so I don’t have one right now, but definitely top 5% (at least)

extra curriculars:
-Varsity Tennis 4 yrs
-Varsity Badminton 4 yrs
-Girl Scouts 9 yrs
-Roller Figure Skating 5 yrs, went to Regionals all 5 yrs
-Speech and Debate Club 3 yrs
-Art Reach tutor (special ed class)
-300+ hours volunteer work, including lots of working on building and maintaining hiking trails and state and national parks
-Teaching Assistant with the EXCEL program (little gifted kids) at SSU (a CSU) over the summer, 4 days a week, 9-12 am and 1-4 pm
-CSF member, 3yrs

Senior year courses: IB English, IB History of the Americas, IB ToK, IB Calculus BC, IB Art II, IB Spanish

National Achievement and National Merit Commended, but probably not Semifinalist…210…ugggh…

I don’t know what else to add. I will have recs, but not until later this year. So what do you think of my chances for the Ivies? Any suggestions? Thanks!:)

Have you even browsed the other “chance me” threads here? There’s like 5 on the first page right now. Chillax and live life.

Your credentials seem adequate, now you have to write unique essays. If you use the AA to your advantage, you’ll probably be in. Maybe bring up the sat to a ~2250 to seal the deal, but I strongly emphasize on the essays because they really have a soft spot for the unique.

Incorrect. 2170 is strong enough to be competitive, especially for a URM.

:O Another case of the uninformed Hannibalxx. Perhaps you should check out http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/955109-silverturtles-guide-sat-admissions-success.html</a> to enlighten yourself.

Thanks everyone! I was wondering whether to take the sat again or not. If I did it would be my third time (first was 2040. meh.) and I didn’t know if taking it many times was worse than applying with a 2170.

^ If you think that you can improve your score by about 100 points or more, it is worth it to retake. See my guide for further guidelines on when to retake, the role of scores in admissions, and tips for improving on the SAT.

No it not wrong at all, just think about our president.

^ Wow.

And when did 2170 become not good enough?

^ The poster is a ■■■■■. I have confronted him but he continues to go around confidently spreading misinformation.

its*

silverturtle, who’s the ■■■■■? Did his post get removed?

I have you all fooled. I am the ■■■■■.

Hannibal, but his post was removed.

OP, what do you want to major in?

I’m not exactly sure…I know that I want to go to law school, and you can get basically any undergraduate degree before that. I’m thinking business or economics so I can use it if I decide I don’t want to go into law (however unlikely that decision is). Or possibly something history related.
