Yes I did. At 12:00.

My clock was wrong.

I suck.

Does that mean the application is now completely void, and if it is... well that is just a shame.

I'm going to cry now.

we don't know, no one knows, but I'm sure it's fine...

Why did you wait so late???

I dont have a credit card. The one I do have took forever to process. It was an At&t gift voucher card, and I just went 70 dollars over its limit.

Problem is... the college doesn't see what time of date it. It was 12:00. But on my application it just says 11/02/08... I am screwed aren't I?

....haha why would you really let it come down to the minute anyway?

There is no need to rub it in... I feel like ****.

I think this happens every year and colleges will still accept it a couple of minutes late. If not, that's really picky, lol.

Thanks for the comment. Is that true even for a ivy league school? BTW I used the common application.

My application for Emory Scholars/Oxford Scholars was two minutes late... Don't worry about it too much, I don't think it should matter?

If it only gives the date, then its possible they will look down on your application. Call them and ask.

Crackerjacks: The worse worse thing that can possibly happen, I think, is that you're moved to RD and you find out in April.

I think all colleges understand. They might be a little annoyed because you waited until the last minute, but they'll probably still accept it. My friend works for our local state college and says the secretaries handle all the forms and the adcoms get a folder with just essays, recs, etc. (Of course, all schools are different.) They don't see when you submit it, so if they accept it it shouldn't affect your decision.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate how everyone understands that this is a stressful moment.

Really do not want to apply RD, then that forshakes going ED. But your right that it is the worst thing that could happen.

But I think with the common application adcoms do receive the entire thing. Since its online, all they have to do is use a computer. I hate it how it says on every portion how the application is postmarked a day late. I pressed the button at 11:50! darn credit card.. or gift voucher.. or whatever you call it.

Don't worry, you'll be okay. According to the Common App site

Will my application be accepted if I do not reside in the Eastern time zone?
All application deadlines are as of 11:59pm on the stated deadline day. The Common Application records all dates (deadlines, form submission dates, payment dates) in Eastern Time. Schools not located in the eastern time zone may choose to extend their application deadlines to the end of a deadline day in their local time zone or may accept your documents up until the posted deadline in their local time zone (even though your submission time stamp will be recorded in Eastern Time.) For example, a school located in California may accept your application until 2:59am Eastern Time, which is equivalent to 11:59pm Pacific Time. Since this is on a school-by-school basis and this is not information that is available to you, we recommend you submit based on the Eastern Time deadline. Most colleges will accept the submission if it is within a reasonable time period around their deadline.

I'm actually really confused about the "due date". If the postmark date for a college says Nov 1., doesn't that mean that if the student goes to the Common App website on Nov. 1 at 11:59pm EDT and submits his app, it's still on time? Otherwise, why is everyone freaking out about sending it out on Oct. 31? I know it's pointless to ask, but I'm still confused.

Well your right. Then again, I scrambling to get a credit card for like 6 hours on the Nov 1st didn't help me.

you can email your schools or call them and explain how it was submitted only a minute or two late, and you hope you won't get penalized for it...I don't think you will....it's not like a week late, and I'm sure they'll understand

Crackerjacks: I don't think it should matter. To be on the safe side, write a nice email to the admission office. Explain to them how you didn't have a credit card and tried all day to try to get one. One thing to be aware of is if you put down on your application that your parents have middle to upper middle class professions, then it would be very hard for the adcom to believe you couldn't get a credit card. They would view it as bad planning on your part.

I submitted mine 1 minute late because i had some error message with the CEEB code and my computer was automatically back on eastern standard time form daylight savings mode.. so my computer said 11:00pm when I submitted it.. but commmonapp said 12:01 AM

Same thing happened to me, but I actually did submit mine on time. I submitted my supplement at 11:40 p.m. on November 1, but I checked this morning and CommonApp says I submitted November 2. I'm thinking that because the CommonApp website is in Eastern Time policy it thinks I submitted at 12:40. But even if it was in Eastern time, wouldn't it still be 11:40 because of Daylight Savings time?

I tried calling my University to explain, but they're closed on the weekends. :(

My life is ruined.

Just for reference, daylight savings doesn't actually end until 2:00am, so the website would be correct in saying you submitted it at 12:40am.
