I'm a junior in high school now, but when I was a freshman in 2009, I took a CC (At Pasadena City College) for spanish for just a few weeks before I dropped out. I called the admissions office and they dropped the class for me, or so I thought. Now (2 years later), I go back to my CC, believing I have no previous record, and I took classes and got an A in philosophy. However, when I looked at my transcript, there was AN F FROM SPANISH 2 YEARS AGO! but I dropped the course! WHAT DO I DO? I am an honor student, I have a 4.2/3.98 GPA, and I simply CANNOT have an F on my college transcript!!!! Can I sue?? Do you think if I ask kindly and explain my situation, they'll take away my "F"?????? THANKS SO MUCH FOR OYUR RESPONSE!

It is an awfully long time ago for trying to get a grade changed. Is there any way to confirm that you dropped the class? Perhaps you can get the Spanish teacher to go to bat for you, provided he remembers that you told him you were dropping the class. I suggest getting your HS guidance counselor involved.

Lots of colleges have provisions where you can “retroactively withdraw” from a class. Colleges are sort of stingy handing these out, and with good reason. They don’t want people who don’t like their grade to just decide to withdraw after the semester is over. However, in your case, I’d say you have a reasonable chance as long as you can back up at least a part of your story.
