Now I know freshmen living on campus are not allowed to bring cars/get a parking permit, but I have a unique situation. I want to do Air Force ROTC, but Davis isn’t home to such a unit, so they have a crosstown agreement w/ Cal State Sacramento. I would need to get there during the week for my ROTC classes, and I really would not like to take a bus to Sacramento that often, especially w/ some events starting at 5 AM. Could an exception be made to allow me to bring my car and possibly get a permit? If anyone could help me out I’d GREATLY appreciate it.

why dont u ask the people working around in that area
cuz dunno...dont think anyone will know

I'm pretty sure it's possible for a freshman to have a car. I know it's very rare and probably difficult to get but with such a valid reason I'm sure they wouldn't say no.

Just give them a call and see what you have to do to apply.

If this is any comfort I'm almost 100% sure that it is not impossible for a freshman to have a car. Good luck..

Btw, if you do get a car help a brother out and give me a ride every now and then ;)..

Have you thought about living off campus? I know a lot of people are afraid they won't make friends if they don't start off in the dorms, but you will. I live with my mom because we live too close to Davis for me to set up another household with our financial situation. I was afraid I would never make any friends, but on the contrary, I found that everybody loves coming to visit because they miss the "luxury" of houses, like kitchens for example. Making friends has never been a problem (in fact, more of a problem is sorting out who likes me and who envies my non-coin-operated washer and dryer or roommate-free guest bedroom), and I have tons of parking. :-)

I guess we will be seeing a lot of each other over the next four years.

I have not called Davis yet but I do know that there is a waiver that we can apply for. It shouldn't be much of a problem getting it.

I have been calling Det 88 for more info about dates and times and just found out they didnt have me in the system.

Private message me to talk AFROTC

I'm not sure if an 'optional' class would be enough of an excuse to get a parking permit as a freshman. I know of 3 people that had cars as freshmen. Two of them had legitimate handicap parking permits.
The third did not have a UCD parking permit... she parked her car in a garage off campus and then walked to it when she needed it.
