Okay, I posted one of these a while ago, and got about 2 responses XP. However, I have some new information to add, and I'd really like more people's opinions.*I know that these 'chance me' threads aren't supposed to be super-reliable, I just want the opinions of people who know more about school and addmissions than I do. Please respond!!

Very, very nice. I think that you have a good chance of sucess. Won competitions? Nice! Extracurriculars? Great! But what was your SSAT score. If it was bad, you’re not going, and that’s that.

thanks for replying!I’m taking my ssats Dec. 10. From practice tests that I’ve done, I’ll probably get about 90-95% verbal and about 75-85% math. I know these scores aren’t too great (especially math, I’m horrible at it!), but, I’m still studying as hard as I can; I have one more week!

ps. I didn’t mention this before, but I was skipped a grade so I’ll be 12 untill March. I’m a year or two younger than everyone else in my grade; does that look good or bad to schools? Also, I go to a pretty bad public school, so do schools give a little leniency if my scores aren’t great because of this?

I’m the same way as you–I was 12 my entire 8th grade year and I didn’t turn 13 until the summer. I don’t know exactly what they think when they see a person way younger than her classmates, but I would assume that it’s a positive influence because you’re able to keep up and to socialize with your older peers. That’s just me, though…

I don’t want to run anything but I was talking to a father of a student at Andover and told him about my experience if applying … he couldn’t understand why I didn’t get across until I told him I was twelve my 8th grade year … not saying that you don’t have a chance but if you don’t get in don’t be discouraged … I’m applying as retake freshman right now so its ask good :)

One more thing. How could you know whether your extracurriculars were great. If the teachers followed directions, they shouldn’t have shown you anything. Is this a guess?
