Please, please...please!

Reply to the 2015-2016 status, MCA, major thread once you know your final status. Many of you have received benefit from the research and data compilation on this forum. Pay it forward for classes in the future. LOTS have received notice already, but very few have replied. Thanks!!!

Friendly bump. Remember to post to the status, MCA, major thread.

Another friendly bump. Go to post 52 in the Confused About MCA thread pinned at the top, calculate your MCA and then post to the 2015-2016 statUS, MCA, major thread. Thanks!

It’s me again!

Just do it!

@eyemgh, this is just a suggestion about getting people to respond to your MCA request. I found only one person posting with an MCA in the 3k’s and few in the lower 4k’s. If you really want to discover threshold MCA’s, set a limit on who can respond (maybe, anyone below a certain MCA of 4300???). Otherwise, the thread is just full of really smart engineer majors posting their fantastic stats (I believe this deters others from reporting).

@casa2274 that’s because people have only been posting about being accepted so far (the consensus is that the applicants with the highest MCA scores will be admitted) because rejections haven’t been released yet so that’s why you only see higher MCA’s (depending on major). As rejections start to come out, you’ll start to see rejection posts with lower MCA’s per major

Not true, there are plenty of people getting into this school w/MCA’s in the 3k’s. Just not in the most popular majors.

That’s why I said depending on major 8-| And in the not most popular majors, not a lot of people will post about it because it’s not popular. That’s the logic

I have to agree with @humanacidtrip here. I think the deeper we get into it, the more people will post. We need to get to rejection time. The question is, will those who didn’t get in, but were passionate enough to dig to the level of calculating MCAs want to post if they don’t get in. For the betterment of future classes, I hope they do. Thanks for the input.

Obviously, your goal is promoting engineering…And the absolute dominance of Cal Poly in the field. Kudos!!

Combined MCA score is only one component. I suppose the MCA is a predictor. However, MCA is NOT the sole factor in determining admission outcomes. If MCA score were the sole factor, than Cal Poly could easily disclose the MCA cut-off for each major and the mystery of Cal Poly infamous algorithm finally revealed–eliminating the need for an-hoc antidotal survey and associated drama.

My goal is to try to figure out ranges for majors and to test the theory that ā€œthe top kids get rejectedā€ to protect yield. For now at least, MCA is the ONLY component we collectively know about. When we have CONCRETE evidence of other factors, then we modify the paradigm, right?

I’m not interested a he said she said word battle. I can tell you two truths, MCA is all WE have and NO school releases the details of their admissions decisions, not one.

I just sent a PM to every person who said they or their child was accepted. Should get some more posts and not just from engineers.

Begging is unattractive. Just saying.

But my intention is honorable

What the hell is a MCA
