Essays: I showed it to 5 teachers/guidance counselors and they all loved it, no one changed a thing.. so I guess it's good
Teacher Recs: VERY strong

Work experience: 4 years at a real estate office, 3 years sleep away bible camp counselor, unpaid chemistry tutor, bunch of volunteer work

Hook (if any): No hook, but I met with the admissions rep/had an unofficial interview and she told my guidance counselor she liked me a lot and could definetely see me at Vandy, and is going to fight for me to be admitted.

Notable weaknesses (if any): ACT scores, Location

Other: First language Italian, First generation college student

Vanderbilt- Most Likely In

Standardized testing scores compromise the relative strength of your application.

^?

A 32 isn’t that impressive for Vandy. The OP’s rank and rigor of schedule are what makes his/her application strong.

Bumpppp ? :)

Isn’t being a “first generation college student” a hook? You are a competitive Vandy applicant with a 32 ACT score and you have a nice GPA. Your Volleyball EC is rock solid, having played Varsity for 4 years. You have very good but not great EC’s overall. Nice work experience. Still a slight reach but I would NOT bet against you!

Haha I’m not sure if it’s considered “a hook” but it is considered in the process. I didn’t post all my ECs or community service on here because that’d be a little excessive but they are overall pretty solid, i’m more concerned with my scores making it a reach

C’mon guys, bump!
