So which of you CC'ers defy the general CC stereotype/mindset that one must have a 2300+ on the SAT in order to be admitted in Harvard? As in, who amongst all of you out there received less than a 2300? What was your score? Also, what is your ethnicity and some of your significant extracurriculars?

The 25th percentile for Harvard is 2060; the 75th percentile is 2370. Clearly, there exists a sizable portion of Harvard students who did not receive above a 2300.

I am one of those who fits in quite nicely in the latter category. There are plenty of students, URM and non-minority alike, who scored less than a 2300.

As pointed out above, you don’t need a 2300 for admission - a few of my friends (albeit they don’t go around college discussing scores etc) have sub 2100 and have got in, although they had ‘hooks’ (Legacy, Athlete etc) in most cases but don’t let that be a necessary pre-condition.

Yes, this is often the case. Most of the people with sub-2100 scores I have encountered are either URMs or recruited athletes - and pretty damn good (looking) athletes, I must admit. ;)

The title of this thread is a bit misleading. Unless the admission’s policy has changed from last year, Harvard does not super score SAT’s.

As you see from Harvard’s released statistics and the decisions threads on CC, many people are admitted with sub-2300 scores.

The 25th percentile is higher than that, and the 75th percentile is lower. Adding up the individual section scores from the ranges that Harvard releases will give too large of a range.

Harvard has superscored and does superscore the SAT.

heart attack

Yes, I’m usually wrong on such matters.
Sorry, OP. (but at least I was in the ballpark, eh?)

Once again silverturtle knows the answers;)lol

I would say that unless you are Asian or something like that, anything above 2200 is competent.

What’s the point of this thread? If you’re looking for comforting news that a sub 2300 is still OK for Harvard, look at the 25-75 percentile ranges of the test scores of admitted students or the results thread from last years admissions cycle.
