My daughter is hoping to apply to Plan II and DS next year. If you got an acceptance this year will you please post your stats? Rank, SAT and EC would be great. Thanks and congratulations to all of you.

I know some of you out there have your letters. Is anyone willing to share?

D received her acceptance letter for Deans Scholar Honors yesterday. Her stats:

SAT - 1550 / 2350 (CR-800, M-750, W-800)
SAT2 - M2-800
GPA - 3.98 UW, 5.45 W
Rank - 5/650+
Other (research) - Siemens National semi-finalist

Got into Plan II.

Rank: Top 5% at a pretty good private school
SAT: 2300+
EC’s: 2 leadership positions, fairly extensive involvement in one club.

I think my essays pushed me over the top. I liked them and think they were pretty good. Since something like 60% of Plan II’s admissions criteria is “how plan II are you” and “essays” I think they were important (likely more important than the rank and scores, I think. My acceptance letter actually mentioned that acceptance into Plan II was “contingent on acceptance to the University of Texas at Austin” so I think that implies that Plan II has in the past accepted applicants who unfortunately didn’t end up getting into UT Austin as a whole.

Good luck to your daughter :)

Congratulations!

Congrats heinochus! Was Plan II your 1st pref? If not what was your first pref? thanks

hey heinochus, congrats on your acceptance, and a quick question: how long ago did you get your Plan II acceptance letter, and did you apply to LAH? I ended up applying to both programs; I’ve only heard from LAH so far, and I’m curious if you heard from LAH in reasonable conjunction with Plan II if you did indeed apply to both.

Rank: School doesn’t rank: only reveals if you are in or out of the top ten %. I am not in the top ten %.
SAT: 1480/2280
GPA: 97/100
ECs/awards: 1 EC for four years with a few awards, 1 EC for two years with leadership, 2 ECs for two years, National Merit Commended and AP Scholar.

I was accepted to Plan II honors in early December after applying at the start of November.

Thanks for the congratulations; Plan II was my second preference (Engineering Honors was first, since Plan II explicitly says they don’t care about which preference they are and Engineering Honors does.)

So I applied to Engineering Honors and Plan II around…mid-to-late October, I’d think? Got the decision about 5 days ago.

Got my acceptance letter a few days ago

Rank-1/22
GPA 4.3+
SAT (2290): 790 M, 730 CR, 770 W
AP: English Lit/Comp and Lang/Comp - 5
National Merit Semifinalist

ah, ok…good luck with engineering honors! And I actually got my LAH letter in about the timeframe you heard from Plan II; I’m a little worried about what that actually means about my status for admission to Plan II, to be honest…
Does anybody know roughly how common it is for students to be accepted into both Plan II and LAH?

ah, gotcha…I got my letter from LAH in that same timeframe as you heard from plan II, which I find a little disconcerting in terms of my admissions status for plan II lol…
Anyone know roughly how common it is to be accepted into both programs, LAH and Plan II?

oh hey, my first one did post haha

We are OOS, would son be required to go for interview if he gets accepted?

Which one is harder to get into, plan II or Dean’s scholars?

A question to the applicants who got Plan II offer.
Do you get the offer by snail mail? or, first you see it in your UT Account?

You will only hear by US mail.

Are Dean and Turing Scholars posted to accounts or via US mail
