Essays are okay, nothing too fancy, a little above average but definitely pretty average for these schools. If anyone wants to read please PM me because I need lots of help haha. Also how important are supplements? I have SOOOO many essays to write in such a short amount of time!

THANK YOU SO MUCH! Leave a link and I'll chance back!

hmmm, your SATI CR combined with M is a little low (yay for 800 writing, but the ivies don’t really look at your writing scores >< & being asian - i would know - doesn’t really help either -.-) to compensate you might want to make sure your essays are extra strong & emphasize the strength of your ecs.

for the ivies on your list, you never know if you’ll get in or not. always unpredictable. as for the other schools, you’re probably in at washu and bc, as well as your safeties. i would say theres a good chance for ucberkeley and ucla too.

good luck writing those essays!

[thread=830377] Chance me! :slight_smile: [/thread]

Anyone else? Please please please

Yes, they do.

Two things:

1) What is your class rank? If your school doesn’t rank then I would say your outcomes will be:

Brown University - and PLME -Maybe accepted into Brown but reject from PLME
University of Pennsylvania- toss up
Yale University- you have a shot although your ECs are on the low side
Washington University in St. Louis -in
Cornell University-in
Johns Hopkins University-in
Chicago University-in
Northwestern University - and HPME- Reject from HPME
Georgetown University-in
New York University-in
Boston College-in
University of Connecticut-in
Bekerley-in
UCLA-in

2) Things that you did for only 1 or two year should not be included in your ECs because they do not show commitment or passion.

The ECs you should focus on your probably your medicine/immunology stuff and your music. From the people I know here the ones who get accepted are people who have one or two things that they really focus on as opposed to having a bunch of different things.

Also a HUGE (and I mean HUGE as in from a top admission consultant Michele Hernadez) when you write your essays one of them should be focused on the extracurricular that you feel the most passionate about it can be either music or the medicine thing and that makes a much stronger application than writing about something random.

Finally good luck, the most important thing is that you have worked extremely hard in high school and will get into a great university.

School doesn’t rank but my GPA is pretty high even though it’s not in the top 10 (only because I took too many classes…but I thought the learnignw as more important).

I’d be in so many of them? Wow haha that’s really encouraging because I’m so paranoid that I’d get rejected from all of them! Should I just not apply to PLME and HPME then? Since I’d probably be rejected anyway?

If I had to formulate a resume for you based on what you offered this is what I would include:

National Merit Scholarship Commended

Latin Related Awards

National Latin Examination
“Maxima Cum Laude” (silver) 9th grade
“Summa Cum Laude” (gold) 10, 11
National Latin Honor Society -Founder, President,11,12

Leadership

Student Representative Council - First Vice President,9, 10, 11, 12
Class Office of 2010 - Class Treasurer, 9, 10

Music Related

Greater Bridgeport Youth Orchestra - Principal Flautist, 9, 10, 11, 12
Modern Musical Masters: National Music Honor Society - Secretary, 11,12
Wind Ensemble First Chair & Section Leader - 12

Medically/Science Related Activities

*Vitas Hospice Care
Office administrative volunteer; 10, 11, 12
~200 hours
St. Lawrence University Book Award for Community Service
Biology Club - Founder, President, 10, 11, 12
National Science Honor Society 12
National Student Leadership Conference, Medicine and Health Care, Washington DC, 2008
Research internship in Immunology Department, Yale University, 2009

Work Experience

*The Perch (school store)
Cashier, bagger (bagging bagels and muffins), 9, 10, 11, 12
~50 hours

Overall you have a very good resume, but you should avoid listing every random thing because it dilutes your major achievements. Admission committees care more about depth than breadth of activities.

No you should definitely apply to PLME and HPME but the competition for those programs are tough.

Ivies - reach for everyone
Rest - match or in

Chance Back sorry for no link Im on phone.

You need to bring up your SAT Reading score. What is your class rank?

You have a lot of leadership positions and solid community service hours, but no major competitions. How well did you place in the National Latin Exam?

There’s no class ranking but i’m in the top 5% and probably second decile only cuz my school is crazy competitive this year and I just took too many diffiuclt classes.
I got two golds and a silver on the exams, there isn’t really any placements haha, so yay?

Gold on the National Latin Exam? Great job!

Lol thanks - not very hard to get haha, but i suppose it looks decent

One thing that I wanted to bring up is the amount of colleges you are applying to, colleges like commitment so try to stick to less colleges that are more similar, this would show that you know what kind of school you wan to go to and you ae not applying everywhere hoping to get accepted somewhere…

HPME-
if you’ve received the application like me already, then 4-10% chance of actually getting in, which is better than a ZERO percent chance, so at least attempt it!!!

Hmmmmmmmmmmm is it really that hard? Haha alright I think I might still apply but I am just never sure whether applying reduces the chances of getting into the colleges.

ivies are always a reach
all others- match/in!!

Ivies= reach for everyone
rest=match or in

Chance me back please!

Haha can you g uys be more specific? I mean, I kinda new ivies = reaches…
