I just finished applying to 9 colleges. I was wondering if someone could rank the schools I'm applying to according to prestige and business programs. For this, lets say price and location are not factors. In no particular order, I am applying to:

USC
Cal Poly SLO
USD
UCLA (applying as a business econ major)
UC Berkeley
SDSU
UC Davis (applying as a managerial econ major)
UOP
Pepperdine

Ranking is not an exact science… and different people will come to slightly different conclusions. I will not give an exact ranking, because I think that is meaningless… but I can put them in 3 rough groupings of similar prestige… just my opinion.

UCLA, Berkeley, USC are all nationally recognized major research institutions.

UC Davis, Cal Poly SLO, SDSU

UOP, USD, Pepperdine (all 3 are private schools with decent reputations, but not better than many public universities in California, so I’m not sure why someone would pay private tuition, unless you get a lot of financial aid or merit aid).

UC Davis by most measures ranks above CSU SD and SLO

Berkeley is ranked most highly. Keep in mind though that Haas’s undergrad program is an upper-division, 2-year program that requires a separate application during your sophomore year. The program has strict prerequisites. About 50% of Berkeley applicants are accepted into the Haas program.
