Please rank the following universities

I know those universities are different, but can someone rank them for me interms which is better and is more popular
Duke
Boston University
Northwestern
USC
Penn state
Colorado
Emory
Peperdine

thanks ,

Based upon my meagre knowledge...

Duke
Nortwestern
USC
Emory
Boston
Penn State
Peperdine
Colorado

That's not based upon any fact whatsoever. Just based upon, which school I think is better, from how regularly I've heard them spoken of.

Northwestern
Duke
Emory
USC
Penn State
Pepperdine
Boston U.
Colorado

"better" and "more popular" are two different things and both are highly subjective. Most rankings are just completely senseless.

In your group of eight, in many respects Duke and Northwestern would be their own cluster at the top, Pepperdine alone at the bottom. Everything else is arguable and for some students Emory and Boston U can score points. For Film, USC would be alone on top.

If you're looking for "prestige" rankings, go to your nearest Indian casino and play the slot machines...it's a more mindful exercise.

Based on my opinions:
Duke/Nortwestern
USC
Penn State
Boston
Emory
Peperdine
Colorado

I am just looking for personal opinions..

Haneen, consider this: before trying to determine the right answers, it's better to ask the right questions.

Northwestern
Duke
Emory
USC
Penn State
Boston University
Pepperdine
Colorado

Northwestern ('08 Baby!!!!)
Duke
Emory
Penn State
USC
Colorado
Pepperdine

Where would UW-Madison fit on that list?

my 2 cents

in terms of "better"
Duke
Northwestern
Emory
(Wisconson)
USC
Boston University
Penn State
Pepperdine
Colorado

in terms of general "popularity" (with my biased sports perspective)
Duke
USC
(Wisconson)
Northwestern
Penn State
Pepperdine
Colorado
Boston University
Emory

The only sport for which Duke is known is basketball......

Well there are really only two sports which a school can really be known for...basketball and football, so one out of two ain't bad. I guess some schools like Michigan and Florida are good in both, but usually a school with good athletics have either outstanding basketball programs or outstanding football programs.

This is true, however, USC is just as well-known for football as Duke is for basketball.

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/other/directorscup-standings.htm

Duke does well in many sports. However, we may not want to broadcast that too much here. There are many folks on this board who equate athleticism with a sheer lack of genuine "intellectualism"!!!!

Bah! Duke can't even churn out a decent NBA player. But I gotta respect their Krazy fans and undying devotion to Koach K. Cameron Indoor gets absolutely nuts during big games.

I'll do my rankings based on football:

**USC/b
**Penn state/b
**Colorado/b
**Northwestern/b
**Duke/b

(Not D-I, so I don't care)
Boston University
Emory
Pepperdine

Who? If so, that's just stupid and plain ignorant.

I agree Scwaby. Check out the thread on the Parents message board about "intellectual curiosity". There are some who measure this nebulous quality based on what they perceive to be a prevailing campus culture. For some reason, the schools with unrecognized sports programs seem to measure higher on this phantom intellectual curiosity scale.

Duke is the best of the list.

Emory should be #1 according to that list- They have never lost a game.

Duke
Northwestern
Emory
Penn state
USC
Peperdine
Boston University
Colorado
