Colgate(legacy)
Tulane
GW
American University
Brandeis
SUNY Binghampton
Bucknell
Emory
Tufts(early decision?)
Northwestern
Drexel
Franklin and Marshall
Oberlin
Syracuse
Wake Forest
U of Rochester
U of Chicago
Cornell(the less prestigious part)

bump…

I don’t think anyone could easily rank the “middle of the pack” schools on this list just by looking at them. U of Chicago is the hardest (they will have both the lowest admit rate and highest SAT range of any of these). But you could do that work yourself, looking up the SAT ranges and admit percentiles for this list and figuring it out.

You ability to get in depends anyway on a range of factors that the schools may consider differently. Some questions you would need to answer are:

What are your SAT or ACT scores (with breakdown)?

What is your unweighted GPA (on what scale)? Class rank (if your school ranks)?

What is your gender and intended major?

Will you be applying for need based aid?

Where do you live now?

What are your extra curriculars?

Do you have any hooks besides the legacy you mentioned (URM, athlete, etc.)?

i am just wondering in general. please someone rank these schools

This is just my guess:
U of Chicago
Cornell
Northwestern
Emory
Tufts
Brandeis
George Washington
Tulane
American
Drexel

Agree with Buttafly, except I am guessing Tufts and Oberlin are pretty close in difficulty. I can’t honestly understand what this type of ranking would do for you in terms of deciding where to apply, though.

where would colgate, wake forest, gw, and binghampton fit in??

Im not familiar with LACs or the other universities. I would expect
Case Western to fall in the middle somewhere.

k, thanks for your input

Colgate is roughly as selective as Wake Forest, these are both more selective than GW, which is slightly more selective than Suny-Bing

Chicago, Northwestern, Emory and Cornell are equally as difficult to get into. Wake Forest and Rochester are probably just right below them.

Thank you very much timetodecide and RML.

bump…

Here are two different rankings, one by test scores and one by admit rates.

thank you! that sat list was very helpful.

tk’s links were helpful. What about a list/ranking based on GPA, tk? Do you have a link to it?

that would be helpful as well

Cornell (CAS)
UChicago=Northwestern
Emory

UChicago is clearly more selective than Cornell at this point.
Northwestern has been going up and up as well.

do you think i could get into to tufts ED with like a 3.7 weighted gpa and a high 1800’s for the sat’s? if not, do you think i could get into emory ED?
