Hi I am an international student from Asia and I will be pursuing a Bachelor degree in computer science.
I want to know which one of the followings has more internship opp and is heavily recruited by the top companies. Where I could get the most out of it? please rank and give me some reasons.

I know students currently studying computer science at Minnesota, and they are readily able to get internships as undergraduates. The recruiting still seems be vigorous.

But why U of minnesota is not that popular and ranking is not that high.
My counselor advice me to go to Virginia Tech compared to U of Minn. Also my friends suggest me that it is a wise choice to go to SJSU and I will have many opptunities for my filed of study.

What reasons does your counselor have for making that choice? I know Virginia Tech has received many students from China, but so has Minnesota, so I'd have to ask why someone thinks Virginia Tech is better for computer science (which is not what most people in the United States think).

Your counselor is not that up to date. UMinn is a FAR better school than VT or SJSU in most things. VT is second rate. SJSU is OK for computer stuff due to location but it's a second rate school too overall. NO comparison. Check the SJTU rankings.

As far as salaries are concerned, you might wish to consider where the schools are placing students. I'm taking a stab at this, but I would think VA Tech places in the east (maybe DC area) and SJSU places in the Bay Area, and ASU maybe in LA/SD area somewhat. Minnesota in the midwest (Minneapolis, Chicago). The cost of living is higher on the coasts than in the midwest resulting in higher salaries.

so why is the pay for University of Colorado, u of V and Texas A&M University is even higher than San jose while those places are not that expensive to live in than CA (just out of my curiosity, nothing serious)

Moreover, I see the housing & living expense in Minnesota...it's about the same as that in CA

You also are not comparing the same group of majors taken by students at each university. That makes a difference in the salary comparison also. Be sure to take a statistics class when you attend college--the statistics classes at the University of Minnesota are quite good.

The University of Minnesota would probably be your best choice. It's the best school overall out of those listed, and it's reputation and general rankings are rising quite rapidly.

If not UMN, I'd go with VaTech as your second choice.
