Hi, I am currently a Community College student in Washington St. and am looking to transfer after Summer Quarter. I am an ambitious and hard-working student who is wants to go into finance/economics (finance preferably).

I will have about a 3.4 GPA when I finish the Summer Quarter with my AA. I have excellent EC's being the Treasurer of our CKI club with tons of volunteer work, ect. I also plan on running for Office President and doing various other EC's by the end of Summer.

With that said, I really would love to move to a bigger city and branch out from my small town. I do prioritize academics, but I know that moving will help me build my network which will bring even more oppurtunities. I would love to go to a university in California, New York, ect. as it has been my goal to live in the city with a great paying career.

Can you give me a few great (Finance or Business Oriented) universities that I could possibly get accepted into that match my description? Is UCLA a reach for me? I will greatly appreciate the advice, thank you all for taking the time to help!

UCLA has been my dream college, but I don't think there is anything left to do to increase my chances of getting accepted. Some people have told me to acually finish my AA in California, ect.

My CC actually doesn't have many set business classes, but it should show I have great interest in it. Can you all give me some other college options... Thanks again.

i highly encourage you to check out sdsu! from what i've heard, it has a great business department. i know many people at the jc i'm attending in san diego that want to transfer there as a business major. sure, sdsu doesn't have the name recognition that a uc would offer, but if that's what you want to study, i think it's way better than a uc. uc's tend to be research oriented, for one thing.

Your 3.4 GPA will hinder your chances at top Cali school and NYU Stern, to name a few. Since you intend to leave your CC soon, you should add some safety/match schools like University of Washington and Washington State.

Thanks so much for the opinions/advice! What do you think is the most pretigious Finance School I could get accepted into? How does the U of W rank in their Finance/Business program?
