I am religious and got put on north campus by accident.
I am desperate to be on central campus and am willing to pay A LOT of money to trade with someone.
If anyone is an engineer looking for some space in a single or looking to make some cash before college please contact me..
If not can someone please give me some options... I am getting desperate!

what about getting an apartment? I’m totally serious; try to retake your housing apartment, idk say you can’t live on campus anymore due to unfortunate circumstances? Find a roommate, or find someone looking for a 3rd roommate (it’s illegal, but a LOT of people in places like University Towers, Maynard, Tower Plaza, etc) do it and they’re fine and you’d be saving a lot of money that way too.
Good luck!

i thought about living in an apartment but I really want that true college experience…Im coming all the way from California, I dont know anyone and want to be able to make some friends easily…:(

I just finished my freshman year at North Campus, and I’m from California as well. While Central Campus is definitely more lively and more appealing than North Campus, it’s not like you won’t be able to make friends on North. Some of my best friends are people I met in my dorm at North Campus. I wouldn’t give up a dorm for an apartment, and if you can’t find someone to switch with, don’t worry–living on North Campus isn’t the end of the world. You’ll make friends there, and you’ll make friends on Central Campus as well. I can honestly say that living on North Campus has not at all detracted from how much I loved being at UMich.

Typically they put religious people in Oxford Housing which works for religious observance but not the most desirable dorm. You’re supposed to address this when you apply for housing. It is probably too late but you may want to call the housing office and see if they will move you to Oxford. You usually need a clergy letter as evidence.

— there are a LOT of freshman who live in apartments, and like all the apartments just have Michigan people in them too (true, more sophs, juniors, and seniors)
I’d still recommend keeping that option open if I were you- you can save a lot of money too if you get 3 people and you can always buy your own meal plan, also posting around on the FB groups (there’s 1 chat and 1 community group) to see if someone would switch

Keep an open mind. If you go in thinking you’re going to hate it on North, you probably will. I’m betting that you will be okay up there if you stay positive and give it a chance. My S (Berkeley bound but Michigan was his runner-up school and we’re also from CA), actually LIKED North Campus! My D (Boston College '12) got stuck on Newton Campus at BC which, like Michigan, is a couple of miles from main campus. Like you, she was devastated at first and then in short order she LOVED the experience. Kids “all in the same boat” tend to bond a little tighter from the slightly remote feel.

You’ll look back on this someday and appreciate the varied housing experience.

Curiosity is killing me-- what does religion have to do with housing? I am sure there is some really legitimate relationship there, but I’ve never heard of that one before. XD

There are some religions that prohibit use of motorized vehicles (i.e., buses) on the Sabbath. If OP needs to attend a religious service on Central Campus and lives on North, then he or she would have to walk there and it is an unpleasant walk from Baits to Central Campus in January and February. The housing office is aware of this and makes arrangements for these students to live in Oxford.
