I know many schools don't require 4 years of every subject, but I have 4 years of each of the main subjects: English, Math, Science, and History/Social Studies.

I have recommendation letters from my history teacher, whose class I had a 96 average in for the year, a recommendation letter from my AP Computer Science teacher, and a recommendation letter AP US History teacher.

I live in Massachusetts and want to stay in-state. I want to go to UMass Amherst but I have been told that I have almost no chance at making it. Is it even possible for me to get into UMass Darthmouth or UMass Lowell? Do I have a chance at any good/decent school in Massachusetts?

I appreciate your responses.
Thank You

For someone with a 2000 SAT, your GPA is ridiculously low. Is there a reason (medical) or did you just not do any work throughout high school?

There is no reason like medical or anything like that. I was never an A student. In some of my classes, I struggled at times where my grade suffered. I just did well on SAT since I thought that was my last and final chance to get into a good college.

So, do you see me anywhere in any good/decent college?

In June you posted that you got a 1660 on the SAT. Did you retake it?

Suffolk University or UMass Boston may be options.

Yes, I retook it.

Bump

The fact that you have four years in the core subjects is expected that does not help you, but anyway…

Your GPA and standardized tests don’t math up. The test scores imply that you are lazy and simply did not try in school. Your best bet is probably to go to community college and transfer.

ArtsyGirl is right just go to a community college, get good grades, then transfer to your dream school. It will also save you some money.
Chance Back

Try applying and see what happens. Your GPA is the killer here. You have awesome test scores and EC’s. You have hope. UMass Amherst is a bit of a reach but if you write a killer essay you might have a better chance. UMass Lowell and Boston might be better matches. If you go to a school that is “below your level” freshman year and do well, you could get a good GPA and transfer to UMass Amherst. Good luck :)
