Ok so i’m trying to transfer to FIT (Fashion of Institute) for business management and here’s a draft I know it’s kind of everywhere right now so don’t be too hard on me haha but I would love to hear some feedback on what I should put in or get rid of. Thank you!
“Since we cannot change reality, let us change the eyes which see reality”- Nikos Kazantzakis. I grew up in love with the idea of beauty and fashion. I was asking my mom at 8 years old to buy me the newest magazines at the checkout line of any store. It was fascinating to me to see what all the celebrities and models were wearing and admire their beauty. I can’t lie, at a very young age I felt insecure from seeing all these beautiful girls. It made me want to learn their secrets on their beauty. This created my love for beauty and fashion. An important lesson I got from all the magazines was without zest, there is no beauty. Christian Dior has a quote similar to this which is, “Zest is the secret of all beauty. There is no beauty that is attractive without zest”. I remember my friends always asking me, “Why are you so obsessed with how they look and what they’re wearing?”. Every child has a career in their head in which they want to pursue. Mine was to be a fashion designer, a career my mom loved the idea of. At 18 years old, I still want to have a career involved with fashion, which my mom still encourages to go through with. Which honestly surprises me because she pushed my sister and brother to go in the medical field. My friends and acquaintances have always encouraged me to through the beauty and fashion route but it’s a good feeling to have the support from my mom, being the way she was with my siblings. As much as I love fashion and love the idea of designing and creating it. I have a bigger picture in my head which is marketing and selling it. Since I always have always read and tried to follow the styles, something I genuinely enjoyed doing I think I have a good idea on what people like and want. I always loved the idea of being a business woman, the idea of a women wearing a suit and getting things done is an idea I am head over heels with. I like to get things done. I would like to think I am a very motivated person. I am a strong believer in law of attraction, which brought me to writing this essay right now.
What makes me stand out from other applicants is my motivation and drive to get things done and of course my strong love for beauty and fashion. When I imagine a perfect day, I think of waking up, doing my hair, make-up, putting on an outfit, and getting ready to go to my favorite coffee shop to get breakfast, the most important meal of the day as i’ve learned. Than to which I can go to class in my college of where I can actually learn more about my passion in my favorite location - Manhattan, which I can honestly write a whole nother paper about. Just being in the city of Manhattan brings me so many happy emotions that I can’t explain. It’s not like any other borough in New York. My long term goal is to have an apartment in the city and have a job as a successful business women in the beauty/ fashion industry. My first step is writing this essay to my dream college for my career , FIT. I have been on campus and heard from my friends who love this school how amazing it is, which is why I hope you consider me attending FIT in the fall.
