My french teacher talked to me the other day about skipping French III (i can self study during the summer) and taking French IV AP my junior year. I'm not sure if i should do this because I'm afraid colleges won't think I've mastered some of the language by skipping a whole year. But i also see it as something beneficial. In skipping French III i can take French V AP senior year.

Some advice please :D

Sorry, how would skipping a year of a language for a higher level be a bad thing?

It won't be viewed poorly.

Besides, what one school considers French III another considers IV or II. From my experience there really isn't any cohesion unless you've taken AP.

Yeah it's not bad at all. I skipped Spanish 4 to take IB Spanish (Spanish 5) because it was required for the IB Diploma. Now if you do badly in French 5 then that's a problem obviously, but other than that it's fine.

Err...I skipped French IV and did somewhat badly in AP French (got a 3 on the AP test...) and got into every college I applied to (fairly selective schools, I might add). It didn't "look bad" for me, if that helps you in any way :P

I skipped an entire grade and performed even better in the higher grade than the lower. If you're good enough and you can cope with the extra work then it's far more beneficial to keep yourself in a stimulating and challenging position.

Thanks everyone :D :D :D :D :D :D
Wish me luck in French IV AP!!
