Ok so I'm going to private school in NYC and doing film studies I want to transfer because I want more production courses, rather than just film history and theory although I know they are important, my current school barely has courses on production. You can't major in Film here. Anyways I was wondering if anyone could recommend schools close to NYC that have pretty good film programs or maybe schools in California. Btw I know about NYU, USC, and Columbia. I'd like some schools/colleges that are good but not extremely known you know? Anyways any help or advice is appreciated.

I think Pace University in Pleasantville has good production courses, only they are not under Film Studies but rather communications; there are quite the amount of production courses.

Yeah I go to Pace in the city and I know the one in Pleasantville has some production courses but I still don’t feel I’d like it. I’ve already looked into it btw and I don’t feel its a fit for me but Yeah
thanks anyways :)

oh, no problem! Good luck on your search! :D

Well, there is Emerson, but I think that’s more broadcasting than film. However, if you’re looking for production, it’s probably going to have you covered.

My brother went to RISD for animation, but ended up switching to film (it’s all part of their FAV program, so it’s not that big of a deal). It’s a really small program (probably not that selective compared to the rest of the school because RISD isn’t really known for film). Anyway, it’s probably not nearly as good as NYU or USC’s film program, but I think it’s pretty good if you want to work with a small group of people. (the FAV class is very small, they all end up helping each other on their projects).

How about Purchase?

Purchase, Syracuse, Emerson, and Hunter College might be good options.
