PLEASE?! Regular Decision - Will I make it?

Hi, I'm applying Cornell Regular Decision to the CAS

Here are some stats:
I go to an underrepresented PA school who has never sent a student to Cornell.
-SAT: 2110/2400 or 1360/1600 (670R, 690M, 750R)
-Class Rank: Top 5%
-I am on the executive board of student govt
-President and Founder of the Political Awareness League
-Was in a rock band that was 1 of the 2 bands chosen from the city to play with popular cover act Bad Fish on their national tour
-Founded the school band in India
-Studied in India for part of my high school
-Taught village children in India with Bandavgarh Foundation (part of World Wildlife Fund)
-Protested against poaching with same organization
-Am currently tutoring Burmese Refugees and helping with rehabilitation
-Attended the Pennsylvania Governor's School for International Studies
-Am in an apprenticeship for international affairs
-Started a winter clothing fund for refugees with the local IKEA
-Am the district representative in Students for a Greener Pittburgh (An organization of 251 members that holds rallies for environmental preservation and has links to local media and politicians)
-In Drama Club
-Actor in School Plays
-In French Club
-In Model UN
-Varsity Swimming 12
-Worked in local library (48 hours)

There were some others but I guess these are more of the highlights

Will I make it?

Also, my friends and I made an art/experimental movie for a TVT contest that has many of my beliefs represented in a very artsy manner. Should I submit this as extra artwork if I am applying to CAS and want to major in something politics related? Or will it seem overwhelming?

please assess this!

You have some very interesting ECs there. Grades are good (I'm going to assume around a 3.8?). Given that you have good recs and an impressive essay, you should be considered quite highly as a candidate for admission.

You have a chance if you package your application properly and highlight your strenghts. You need to highlight your passion for a couple of extracirriculars where you've spent considerable time. You have too many activities and it may send a wrong signal to adcoms that you are doing all this for college admissions.
If you have some unique talent in art you should send some samples of your work.
Good luck

Aah, I forgot to mention that. After visiting 4/8 ivies, they have consistently said a strong dedication to two-three activities. They want to see that you have participated in a given activity, and then progressively become a leader and made great contributions to the school and society. You might want to tie some of the above activities into each other, and relate them to one another so you don't look like a guy who spends every waking moment thinking of projects to get yourself into college.

Might want to reconsider putting the protest thing on your resume too, never know, might touch a nerve with the adcom.

Is it me, or are the higher powered schools now downplaying the whole EC thing because some people began to go over board? Like going to Africa when they were 15 to study AIDs and other diseases. Not really sure what to make of the situation.

And also, might want to try and tie your perspective on refugees into what you want to major in, show that you will make a contribution to the school.

thanks guys! you see, in the whole college application process, I, like several other students my age, began to lose my head. I applied to Penn early decision (mostly because of external influence lol) but inside i kept wishing that I had done it either to Cornell or Brown. Well, I got deferred from UPenn, and I was quite sad as I felt I wasn't good enough. Then people told me that this gives me a great oppurtunity to pursue schools that I love, like Cornell. THe only thing worrying me is that it is Regular Decision. Does it not make much of a difference at Cornell? Do you think I will get in even though its RD? Also, I will thak all of your advice to tune my app accordingly. Thanks!

If you are good enough, you will get in. There is a huge number of spots (relatively speaking) at Cornell when compared to some other ivies.

well, man, u r definitely set with extracurriculurs (founded school band in India, holy $%$#). ur gpa sounds good too if ur in the top 5 percent. to tell u the truth, i'd be worried about the SAT score. regular admittance for cornell is like 100x harder than early, and u would probably need a score of at least 1450 or 1500, and thats pushing it. sorry, im not trying to belittle u, im just trying to give u what i feel is a realistic opinion.

i want to apply regular to cornell too, and like you, i am worried like hell, so if you guys out there wouldn't mind giving your honest opinions about my chances:

-1490/1600, 2240/2400 on SATs
-710 on Bio and Chem sat2s, and 730 and 680 (yikes) on Math2c Sat2s.
-3.67 gpa, but my school doesnt weigh gpas bases off of class difficulty (scarsdale), so its probably seen as a 3.7
-4 AP classes
-my senior grades r not that great: mainly Bs, and a few A-s and As
-im in a bunch of honors societies (not sure how much they care about that)
-im asian (probably dooming me from the start)
-extracurriculurs: habitat for humanity, school orchestra, school jazz band guitarist, korean school, church youth group
-worked in a rehab hospital for 80 something hours total between this year and last, as a volunteer
-worked as a guitar teacher t.a from this year, october to december.
-i have been taking guitar lessons since 5th grade, and will submit a cd of my work to colleges (i think it kinda sucks tho).
-no legacy (both parents attended college in korea)

so....?

you can tell from ED decisions that no1 can predict ur decision or even come close to the reality....i think both of u are a little above avg or average applicants so anything can happen

I personally only put 4-5 ECs on common app and didnt send in a resume. Then i wrote my supplemental essay on my major interest and somehow i got in ED.
