The title should be self-explanatory. I’m looking for examples of the kinds of students who earn merit aid at Bucknell.

I realize that Bucknell focuses on need-based aid. But, the scholarship page does say a few students without need can receive awards.
Thank you.

D is a rising senior at Bucknell…2190 SAT’s, HS grades in the A to B+ range with plenty of Honors/AP courses. Engineering major…

She received a Presidents Scholarshop (10K/year). I was pleasantly surprised.

IIRC, she did not initially receive the scholarship. As an ED admit, I had to fill out my fafsa and css profile early, based on estimates. When my actuals came in much different, I immediately called the FA office and had them review the file; at that point, they took away a small need-based grant and replaced with the President’s Scholarship. Not sure of the logic, but I was happy with the result.

Hope that helps - good luck!! BTW, she has loved every minute of her time at Bucknell.

^^ edit: It was the Dean’s Scholarship, not the President’s. I was thinking of the wrong kid! :)

Although I chose to go to a different school this fall, I applied to Bucknell and received the Dean’s Scholarship as well. I had a 2170 SAT, straight A’s, took 5 AP courses, had many good extracurriculars and wrote strong essays. Also, be sure to do the optional essay when completing the application; that always helps! Good luck!
