Please Someone Help!!!

Alright about my situation. I live my mom and stepparent (my dad died when I was really young), however my stepparent never legally adopted me and we have no legal connection. My mom and step dad file seperate taxes and my mom takes my brother and I, and my stepdad takes my two half brothers. So when i fill out financial aid, do I include my stepparent? I ask bc he does not really provide for us, and will contribute probably nothing towards my brother and my education. Combined their income is 117K (mom:67K, stepdad:50K), so when I file the Fafsa do I only use my mom?

You have to report the income and assets of your Mom and your stepdad - it does not matter if he has adopted you or not.

A stepparent is treated in the same manner as a biological parent if the stepparent is married, as of the date of application, to the biological parent whose information will be reported on the FAFSA or if the stepparent has legally adopted you. There are no exceptions.
