Hey, so I have a 3.8 gpa and I made a 2030 on my SAT (probs gonna retake that though), I play school soccer and club soccer and I am captain on both teams, I am President of my school's marching band and I am a section leader, and I am involved in three different school clubs. Would you mind suggesting schools that I should think about applying to because I am so lost. I am not sure yet exactly what I want to do but I have narrowed it down to either physical therapy, something business related, or something law related (sorry I know that is super vague). Please help me.

Try the SuperMatch feature in the column on the left. Come up with 5 reach-5 match-5 safeties by looking at the middle 50s SAT scores; then run the net price calculators for those fifteen so that you’ll have some idea which you can afford. You’ll need your parents’ 2013 tax returns and info about their retirement assets and home to do this. If they resist, you’ll have to plead with them because the number one issue is whether or not your family can afford the school–not kinda sorta afford but absolutely afford. There’s no sense setting your sights on schools you cannot afford, although there are thousands of families each year who find this out in April of senior year. don’t be one of them. Then come up with 5-5-5 you can afford. That’s good enough for May of your junior year. Spend the summer working on essays and preparing for a re-take of the SAT or ACT. Try traveling to the nearby campuses so that you can rule out some on the preliminary lists. Good luck.

NEED MORE INFO? GPA weighted/unweighted? Home State? Look to go out of state? Which part of the country are you looking? Small, Medium, Large?? Rural, Urban? Private/Public?? How much can you and your parents afford?

3.8 is my weighted gpa, my school does’t do unweighted gpa or class rank because I go to a very competetive high school. My home state is Texas, but I wouldn’t mind going out of state, it just depends on cost. I’m looking for a medium sized school, but larger would also be fine. Preferably a school that isn’t in the middle of nowhere but that is still in a safe part of town. Public and private both work but I’m assuming public will fit better because the cost range would probably have to be around 15,000.

Well, if you like big cities you have the CUNYs in NYC which are all around 15,000$ for OOS (Baruch which is great for business, and Hunter and City.) I think they’d fit your GPA as well, though they’re average SAT is definitely lower. That’s a great SAT score BTW, so you could apply to mid-selective private colleges like perhaps Boston University, UCLA, or even Boston College and such, which are very expensive but they could offer you need based and merit based aid. Do you qualify for need based aid? How much do your parents make?

Also, your class rank is the most important thing for admission to Texas public universities.
