Howdy!

I’m a white female in Michigan, don’t really qualify for any financial aid.

Currently, still pretty undecided about what I want from a school (honestly UofM is the dream but I want to try and get excited about other similar/much more realistic options) looking to pursue something like PoliSci or Economics, most likely going to grad school/law school. My Dads not really into me going to a ~small liberal arts school~ but I’m open to it. Oof its so bad I don’t really know my rural/urban small/big preference, my plan is to just kind of apply to a mixed bag and see where I get in/what I like. :E
Regionally… the closer to MI the better, but honestly open to farther away, especially East Coast, if its a good match.

oh, and as far as politics, I would prefer a place that’s not suuuuper one way or the other. For example, I toured Oberlin and liked it, but I was put off by the info session guy saying outright “no one who goes to oberlin likes the current administration”. and I’m not like especially conservative or anything but I value a free exchange of ideas and different opinions, and most schools id say are left leaning which is great I just wouldnt want to go to a place KNOWN for a certain political view, ya know?

Based on your profile and criteria, schools such as Denison and Trinity (CT) might be appropriate. If you would like suggestions for reaches, look into Colgate and Hamilton. However, though these smaller colleges would be excellent for your academic interests and career aspirations, none really resembles UM. For a school similar in some ways to Michigan, but an easier admit, look into Miami (Ohio).

George Washington and American might be other schools to consider.
