well currently i'm a sophmore and have finally realized that college is just around the corner BUT i have honestly slacked off these past 2 years, my GPA has been below par, usually all 3.3's except for a 3.17...no honors, little EC's...ex: JV Volleyball, Key Club, Ecology Club, Link Crew, Language Courses outside of school for the past 5 years. So hypothetically speaking, I manage to pull 3.8-4.0's for my junior and senior year with no honors or APs, and 2 AP courses senior year and add many EC's to my list, where would i be able to get into?

What are my chances of getting into:
SDSU
NYU
Any UC's

CAN YOU GUYS PLEASE RECOMMEND SOME COLLEGES IN CALIFORNIA THAT ARE SEMI/PRESTIG. OR ANY COLLEGES THAT ARE BY THE BEACH that have some sort of good reputation?? Any college's with a great location and people who arn't bricks are good for me? THANKS!

As a sophomore, it's too early to predict your chances at any school.

The good news is that the UC's will only look at your sophomore and junior year grades in admissions - work hard, bring up your GPA this year, and you will have a solid shot if your test scores are decent. I'd suggest you read up on UC admissions at www.ucop.edu/pathways, paying particular attention to the combination of grades and test scores required as minimums.

There are literally thousands of colleges in the U.S. that might fit your needs, so I would encourage you not to focus too narrowly at this point but to explore a wide variety of options. Get a copy of the Fiske Guide to Colleges or explore the college descriptions on the Princeton Review website. This is also a good site to read to learn about different colleges and the in's and out's of applying to colleges. I'd also suggest that you start talking with your parents about what they can afford for college. If you will need financial aid, that will also affect the schools you ultimately look at and apply to. In any case, try to get a clearer idea of what you are looking for in terms of: size, potential majors, geographic location, type of students, social scene, etc.

After you have your PSAT scores in hand in November, you will have a better sense of where your chances might lie in terms of admissions, but, even then there is still time to prep hard for the SAT and SAT II tests in order to boost your chances.

UNC Wilmington...It's on the beach and is a pretty good school..so far you'd be a match I guess
