Please Suggest some Univ/College in Toronto, with SAT=1650

I have a friend who is an international student. With his SAT score of 1650/2400, can someone please suggest some colleges/universities in Toronto area?

Thanks

There are several universities in the Toronto area like Toronto, York, Waterloo, Ryerson, OCAD.

Note that in Canada, “college” refers to a school similar to a “community college” in the US, while “university” refers to what would be called a “college” or “university” in the US.

You can pretty much strike off the University of Toronto from that list. A score of 1650 is too low to get you into any department I can think of.

For York or Ryerson it could be doable, but my verdict is “major and GPA pending” at this point. However if U Toronto (even Mississauga or Scarborough) is your goal, then your best bet is to transfer after getting a 3.5+.

Thank you!

I am assuming he is an American citizen, because if he is not than the SAT, as far as I am aware, is not required for admission. With Canadian school admissions, I would say the GPA is the more important factor, however they do have cut-offs, and they probably do have an SAT cut-off. I dont know what it is but i would say it is probably in the low 1800 at UofT. So UofT is probably out of the running. York/Ryerson I am not sure, but again I would need his average/GPA to give a better idea. I would say he will get in Ryerson and York. That being said, both are not that great of institutions, that wont have too much international recognition (assuming he is either Int’l/America, he/she will probably want to work outside of Canada as well, then attending Ryerson/York will make doing that harder due to the lack of recognition outside of Canada. Then again I could be wrong here so take some elses input on this on top of mine)

In fact, Ryerson’s strongst field is communication, journalism included. York is fine for arts, business but if his aim is law school (another strong area of York) then asking for undergrad advice is not the way to go.
