Hey! I'm an international hoping to do something along the lines of Business or Economics. (Probably BA-Economics) I'm currently in the 12th grade.

IB:
Result: 41/42
Math HL: 7
Business HL: 7
Economics HL: 7
Hindi HL: 6
Biology SL: 7
English SL:7

SAT: CR- 610, M-760, W-770. Total-2140 (Will be retaking SAT this November)
SAT II: Math I: 730.(Will be taking Math II and Biology (E) this October. Looking at 750+ for both)

Extracurriculars:
National skating champion since 10 years. Have won 110 medals with 60 gold medals.
Three international championships: 1 World championship (at Colombia)
2 Asian championship (Taiwan and China) Won 2 silver medals at Taiwan.
I have won a lot of awards for my achievement in sports.

This is just a basic outline of the major things on my Application. I have a few more extracurriculars, but nothing major. I'm looking at California, Chicago or New York because of the social support at those places. But I wouldn't mind going to other places if they take me and they're better than the above. I'm not really looking at anything else besides the level of education at this point, even though bad culture at the university might keep me from going there.

Could you please suggest some universities (safeties, targets or reaches) with these stats? Thanks :)

Nope NYU is pretty bad with financial aids but you can check their website and see if there are scholarships.

NYU’s CAS offers Economics. Stern also offers a more financial economics major but Stern will be a reach for you because your SAT is a bit below average for CR/M

Almost all colleges in the US offer economics as a major. If you are eligible for need based FA, I would suggest applying to the Ivies and top liberal arts schools. I’m not sure how the IB system works but based on your SATs, I think you have a shot. Definitely retake the SATs to get verbal up.

I would also not be so concerned with living in one of the big cities. Liberal arts colleges take tons of internationals and have very good support systems already set up. In fact, I would argue that you would be better off in the middle of nowhere at a top liberal arts school as an international than in a big city commuter school.

foolovsky-thanks a lot I thought SAT was the weaker aspect of my application! I will definitely retake it!
I’m not looking at the city actually. It’s just that I have family there.

SLUMOM-Connecticut College? Never heard of that one before. Is it good for economics or business major?

Bear in mind, it seems that last admissions cycle many internationals here on CC were posting that they were denied admission because they needed too much financial aid, not only at this particular school, but other schools as well.

So look before you leap! Before even visiting & appying to a school, carefully check out their policies on financial aid to international students. Some schools will even state that they don’t give financial aid to international applicants.

Oh! Internationals need the most help with finances because of the additional burdens caused by the exchange rates
Anyway, thanks! Will look into it :)
