That is what Grinnell asks me to write in the common app supplement. And they don't give too much space.

I got kind of tired of writing countless "why" essays, so I decided...Why not write a poem? By the time Grinnell gets my app, they will have read countless other essays and paragraphs about me.

Do you a think poem would go well and show creativity?

I've heard that it's better to just write these, and not do research. Worked out for me. When I wrote mine I didn't put that much thought into it, I just wrote something like, "I like how it's in a small town, it seems to be safe. I'm a coward, so I need to be at a safe school." (What was I thinking??) Something along those lines. That's the only thing I remember.

I understand your comment sw717, but what do you mean by research? I didn't mention any extensive amount of research going into my why grinnell response. Just that I was considering writing a poem.

My son wrote a little poem for his "Why Haverford?" response. They had a limit of 100 characters, so he had to be brief. He got accepted there. Grinnell already has a regular essay from you, so I think a poem would be a creative approach to this question. Good luck to everyone!

well....... since you asked, for my other ones, I wrote stuff like "____ is known for it's strong programs in ____ which I am very interested in..." blah blah. Like that.
Does that make sense or should I expand?
