PLEASE!! What's the chance?

My average is a 91% and am in the rank of top 25% at my school.
My SATs are not as high as I wanted. Reading-520 Math-500 Writing-530
My ACT is a composite of a 23.
I have alot of ECs, volunteer work, and have work experience.
I have and am taking some college level classes that will get me college credit, also.
My schedule is full this year and I am taking some strong courses.
I live in New York.
I wrote a good essay and did visit the campus.
SUNY University at Buffalo is my dream school, so I really, really hope to get in!!
So what do you think?

So, anyone have an opinion? Any info that I would like to know? Anything?

Your gpa is within range and everything except your test scores seem positive for admissions. Your scores are below average, as you know. But I’m sure people have been accepted with lower scores. By any chance, did you apply as an EOP student? UB does seem to use a slightly more holistic admissions process than some schools, ie. they are not strictly numbers driven.

Good luck!

Per that data Buffalo considers as “Very Important”:
1- Class Rank
2- Academic GPA
3- Standardized test scores

From the info you provided:
1- 65% of last years admitted freshmen were in the top quarter of their class. Sounds like you should be Ok with your top 25%.
2- Not sure what a 91 translates to in terms of gpa but 70% of last years admitted class had gpa’s of under 3.49. I would immagine that a 91 is at least a 3.75 so you should be ok there.
3- Your SAT is below the 15% acccepted numbers but your ACT of 23 is at the 25% admitted number. This is probably your weakest part.

Hopefullly your other information gets you over the hump.
Good luck.

Thanks so much to both of you for your help!!! I am still waiting, but I feel slighty less scared and worried now. Again, thank you for your opinions and time.

Just have a “plan B”
Always have a “plan B”

I know MANY people with the OPs test scores that got in. I would say definite in… especially since shes a NY native…

Check out this thread (for anyone that applied to UB):

Thanks

you are most likely in. what is your major? it is a huge component of the ub admission process (i have firsthand knowledge of this being a student).
