Chance me please~
Hi
my first choice school is UC Berkeley
and i don't know if i have even a slightest chance to get in
gpa 4.0+
SAT(taking october for the first time, but my practice test resulted in 1800+ essay of 10 out of 12)
SATII(math 2-650(taking again in november, aiming for over 700),
chem - 680 (aiming for over 700)
taking korean with listening
treasurer in earth team
member in z-club
member in english learner helper
volunteer hours of 40h(cancer society program and senior center)

took apchem last year and (got A)
taking ap bio this year
canadian schools didn't have any honors program but i was on the honors roll all year of my high school

my canadian school wasn't really offering AP's and i was planning to take all three sciences same year but american school only allow me to take one science at a time. So i couldn't take ap physics
I was in advanced function in canada but when i moved here, they placed me into algebra 2 and now i'm taking pre-calc.

I just moved from canada to US last december
and i think i have lower chance to get in because i'm considered as international

I live near berkeley and i really want to go to that school!!

Do i have any chance of getting in?

I was thinking of applying to cornell, upenn, darthmouth but i saw people with amazing test scores and ECs and now, i don't know if i will try those schools
Other than UCs, i want to go to john hopkins too. i have no clue if i'm eligible

i would think that UCB would want some more internationals seeing how they're being flooded with out of staters, but that entire statement would be wrong. The fact that you live close to UCB implies you live in California which slightly raises your chances of acceptance if by some stroke of luck you get considered instate.

without SAT scores, kinda hard to tell, but you ARE taking them kind of late.

I have to ask though, why do you want to go to UCB? Is it because of the name or is there some specific program that you want to do?

it's because my mom goes to UCB and i think it would be a decent school to attend and continue my med.
I know that taking the tests during oct and nov is late but i hardly had any time to prepare for them.
Some gets as high as 2300 easily but some doesn't
I can't make up any excuses but it's been really hard for me
Thereare so many competitors applying for it and I'm so confused
I'm in depression and i don't know what else to do.

UC calculates their gpas differently:
AP classes give you an extra point (B=4)
and most all other classes are given regular points (B=3)
UC also only looks at you sophomore and junior year grades.
