Hey guys I am a senior in high school and have been very confused about where I want to attend next year. As bad as it sounds I really want to go to a school where all the students go to the football games. As a senior in high school I love going to the football games and really want something like it in college. I know “college isn’t high school” but I think it would be really nice to have a football program. Now I live in the northeast so football isn’t huge here in some colleges. I was positive I wanted to go to the College of the Holy Cross but after going a few times I’m not sure it’d be fun for me. I want to go to a great academic school with a football team. My grades are not amazing but they’re pretty good. Any ideas?? Thanks guys!!!
Usual questions here: Where do you live and what can your family afford? Do you have any other criteria other than a big sports scene?
The usual suspect would be your state U - an honors program if you have the grades for it. With a little more info, we could probably offer other suggestions.
yeah sorry about the lack of info.

How much will your parents pay?
Alabama would accept you and if you apply soon, you’ll get a small merit award. If you retest and do better, then you’ll get more money.
Alabama has very good academics along with BIG SPORTS to watch and cheer for.
There is a Catholic Church right on campus, so you can continue your Eucharistic Minister duties there…and if you serve at 9am Mass, then you’ll get to give Communion to Nick Saban! lol
Both my DDs brought ACT score up with specific effort and during first semester senior year, so encouraging you to maybe get some tutoring help and focus on it for the scholarship level. What do you want to study? Look at the UA web info and see if you can hit some goals. Many OOS kids at UA. You will feel right at home, and a beautiful campus, great academics. DD loves it at UA.
Norte Dame, though you will need to improve your ACT.
Lehigh, Penn St, Maryland
Villanova
Holy Cross is a great academic institution but if you want big time football it isn’t the place to go. They are more northeast small college football playing other small colleges in the Patriot League and Ivy League.
Ohio State.
If you don’t know what your parents can afford, use the EFC on College Board.
If you’re interested in going to a college which wins in football, you may consider it worth it to scour through the current college football rankings for some options. I’m sure you’ll be able to easily eliminate some schools

Notre Dame is my first instinct to recommend, given your initial interest in Holy Cross, both being Catholic schools.
There are some northeastern colleges where football is popular (but nowhere as near popular as at a southern school)
Amherst
Wesleyan
U New Hampshire
If you want serious football, go to Michigan or Penn State, the two largest football stadiums in the nation. These games are experiences you don’t forget.
