Several months ago someone had posted ideas for b-day presents, etc.
My plebe's birthday is rapidly approaching and besides $$ or gift certificates, what do you get and 18 years old that they're actually allowed to have in their possession?

Also, I've read that certain companies will deliver a cake.....will this draw too much attention?

If i were to plan a visit for a weekend. How late can I go on the yard on Friday (if at all) and would my son even be able to see me due to the mandatory study time on Fridays?

I know these are trivial questions, but hopefully someone can break away from the other "hot" thread to give me some insight. Thanks.

I would recommend asking your son these questions. Since he is on the ground, and especially in light of all these changes currently going on, it might be best to let him tell you when/if he is available or what the new rules are.

As for the cake, I'd make it a small one, and since Main(O) no longer accepts packages he would have to go somewhere to pick it up and that, too, may impinge on his mandatory schedule. Whether the cake would cause him any "trouble" depends upon current regs (can Mids have food in their rooms?) and his company's attitude toward Plebes.

Why not get him something he would be able to enjoy at his sponsor's house?

He has yet to meet his sponsors as they have a vacation home in another state and are just returning at the end of this month. Good idea, though.

Last year we gave our plebe a new camera - it was appreciated and saw a lot of use, particularly during Army-Navy week and the summer training cruise.

This year we gave her purses to match her whites and blues, I guess the corresponding gift for a son would be a good wallet.
