<p>Are there any major differences between Plebe Summer and Beast other than things like traditions?</p>
<p>I'd be willing to bet that Army doesn't learn to sail on the Hudson...but they do a lot of rucking (read: 15 mile hikes).</p>
<p>Honestly, of course there are differences in what really occurs (in the details) but Plebe Summer/Beast Barracks are both designed to be an indoctrination to the U.S. military, to include stress, yelling, rushing everywhere, physical training, and essentially being a follower under the complete supervision of upperclass. Both have their little nuances and details consistent with the specific service, but they both serve the same purpose--to make you a functioning member of the U.S. armed forces. </p>
<p>And both will be hard, no matter what.</p>
