Have any of you experienced parent's used the service provided by Thornton's studios for DVD's and pictures. I was given a flyer at I Day and it sounded really good but i wanted to know what some others experience was with this. And, are any of you other plebe parents signing up for their servivce.

I am a plebe parent and I signed up last night! I already saw my Mids schedule, and know she swam and did rifle yesterday along with an english exam.......not sure if other experienced parents use Thornton's, but for me it gave me comfort to see she made it through another day....just my thoughts..

Last year we looked at their website and search for our and company. We found a few photos, probably about a dozen or so of him. By the end of the summer there were many more of his company and platoon which were interesting to look at. It's a great idea to sign up as you're not really obligated to buy any. We eventually purchases a small flip photo album wiht some 3x5s I think. There photos we couldn't get so it was worth it. Pretty expensive though. We also purchased one of his company of plebe summer, but it wasn't that impressive. It was more of plebes standing around and not actually engaged in activities even while the activity was going on such as the rock climbing wall, o course, sailing, it seemed as if they couldn't take the actual action shots of the activity so that was a disappointment.

There was a parent who posted 1,000s of photos on dropshots.com and we found excellent photos on that site. Not sure if she'll be taking shots again. Perhaps someone who visits the yard and post some photos. Other parents also posted to usna.org.

Blackhawk-Hope all went well for you on I-day. We were hoping to meet you at the plebe picnic but weren't able to make it up that day. All the best to your son this summer. I'm sure he'll do well. PPW will be here before you know it.

By all means SIGN UP for Thornton's webpage. One thing they do that is so helpful for parents is in a few days start to post what YOUR Plebe's Company's training schedule is for that day. Sometimes it varies from what is posted, but if you check daily on the site, you can print out the information and feel vicariously a part of your Plebe's day. I have saved those print outs as a kind of diary of remembrance for my daughter. So even if you never order any photos from Thornton - consider the - what is it - 25$ they ask you for? as a kind of rental service to view Plebe pictures and to receive this invaluable information.

HELP.. I signed up for Thornton but dont see where any photos are available.. Do I have to pay to even look at the Photos?. and are they really $18 per 3x5 phto?

Blackhawk.. we caught a glimpse of you guys as you walked through Weather Rail Lounge Wed night but you were moving to fast for us to catch you! :)

you have to pay the $34.95 to be able to fully use the sight, however that amount is applied to your first purchase. So if you plan on getting the plebe summer video you only have to pay an addt'l $15. They said the photos would be up fully by Sun. They said they had over 6000 from I-Day. It seemed worth it to me just to see the photos thru out the year and I like one of the previous posters said, likes looking at the schedule to know what S did that day.

Here's a link to local photos that include I day

You have to search through the photos but there are some great shots. By viewing these you'll have a much better idea of what your Plebe is doing.

Happy hunting!

YEAH! I FOUND LOLA! Thanks for the links!!

I sure hope there is not another person taking pictures again. The Academy already has a contactor and a public affairs office. I think that having an additional person taking pictures is more of a distraction (especially if it is a plebe-parent).

The Academy talks about "letting go" of your children....just do it.
Plebe Summer is about being seperated from your child.

I recall someone posted the other night wishing that the contact be seperated until December. Might not be a bad idea?!?!

I think (?) I found the boy. Not sure. Someone else needs to go and look. M2L- Saw the Lola!!

I was wondering if anyone had registered for the Thornton website and had used it successfully. ive tried but it doesnt seem to work.

Regarding the Thornton website, I am also having problems. Are you getting the error message? Do you have to have Power Point in order to view pictures? I sure hope not.
