Does anyone know how pledging a fraternity for the spring semester works out? When does rush start and by when do fraternities give out bids to pledges for the spring? Also I heard KA does not have a spring rush, does anyone know if this is true and if any other fraternities are like this? One last note, I heard ZBT costs 10 grand per year???? is there any legitimacy to this?

ZBT is around $3750 per academic year.

And many frats do not do spring rush.

Frats that have houses, like ZBT, are very expensive - try $6000 per academic year for new members. The Big 4 (KA, SAE, SigEp, and Fiji) all have dues upwards $10000 for new members.

That said, those same fraternities who pull in 40-50 new pledges in the fall do not do spring rush, like KA. However, mid-sized fraternities (everyone except them) rush/pledge for the spring semester.

It is true that KA does not have a spring pledge class, neither does SAE or fiji. I think Sig Ep does though (they have the last two years).

The dues for KA were $5300.00 for the first year (at least it was 2 years ago), not $10,000 and I know the other “top 4” are in a similar range (per moms of members-we talk ;)).

I will add though, that those dues do not cover extra costs like social dues for parties or big expenses like Texas/OU weekend. I would say the total cost for the first year ran around $6500 to $7000. This does cover meals though, so take advantage of that and eat at the house - plus, you’ll get to know the actives better by hanging out there.

Dues reduce yearly after that, like $5000 soph, $4700 junior, etc. (at KA, can’t speak for the others).

No way the houses are at 10,000 dues. Fiji and SAE are the 2 most expensive and they’re closing on or have surpassed 7000$. Then there is the nickle and dime; there’s social dues, hidden costs of pledgeship such as mixers, OU weekend bus and hotels, formal dinners, random late nights not covered by social dues.

Most of the big houses do not have specific spring rush/have spring classes. Rush is basically year-round for the fall class. Most of the fall pledges are determined in summer before the start of freshman year

Last year the following houses took spring pledges:
Phi Delt, Sig Ep, Pi Kapp, Sammy, Sigma Chi, Phi Psi, Chi Phi, Beta, Kappa Sig, Delta Chi, Delt, Teke, Phi Kappa Theta, and Pike.

Spring pledges suck.
