pledging a sorority spring semester?

Hi everyone,
I am a 2nd year student that is interested in joining a sorority spring semester. I've always been interested in going Greek, but for the past 3 semesters at Cal, I've been very involved in another campus organization, and so felt like I did not have the time. Next semester, I really want to try something new, meet different people, and just get the most out of my experience at Berkeley, which is why I'm considering pledging. I also want to find a good group of friends. My dorm freshman year was not very social and I made barely any friends through that, and all my other friends are part of the organization I was in, which I'm going to take a break from next semester.

Firstly, I wonder if I'm too old to join a sorority at this point...I know that most people join their freshman year. Also, what is a sping recruitment like? How many are there usually? Will spring pledges find it harder to be incorporated into the social community? I feel like the experience might be better if I join in the fall, but that would already be my 3rd year, which could be too late. Additionally, there are only 3 sororities that are recruiting in the spring (Gamma Phi Beta, Kappa Kappa Gamma, and Sigma Kappa). Can anyone give me more information about these sororities and their members?

I have not been very involved in the the greek scene nor know many people who are part of it, which is why I feel pretty naive, and any information would help. Thank you so much everyone!

i have a few friends in gamma phi beta
accordingly, it's the most low-key sorority at berkeley so it's less intense to get into...at least that's what i have heard
you may want to look at their websites and look through their galleries to check out some of their events

i don't think you're too old for anything, i know fourth years who have pledged frats or sororities
pledging is a lot of fun, and could be a lot of work too, but then it's fun work =D because you have your other pledge sisters with you

spring recruitment, in both my own house and others, generally gears towards girls who somehow know or are acquainted with actives in the house. you don't have to be best friends with them, or be identical in character/interests, but it's important to be friendly, fun, and come off as the type of person one would want to hang out with outside of class. if you don't know anyone in those three houses that have spring COB, you still could go through the process, but unless you absolutely love the house you get asked back to i'd actually recommend going through fall recruitment so you don't regret anything.

My D rushed spring of her freshman year and it worked very well- the process is less intense and the spring rush group is smaller, it is probably easier to get to know your fellow rushees.

Not sure about those sororities individually, but it is all about fit, just like finding a college was, so go to all the functions and find your people.

Fall recruitment is probably better because you get to see all 12 houses on campus. However, the spring recruitment process is much more intimate because there will be less rushees. I did Fall Recruitment and it was extremely hectic, and I felt like I didn't get as much attention as I would've in the Spring. Although there are only three houses doing recruitment, you should still go check out their events since there are no obligations. If there is a house you connect with right off the bat, you won't have any regrets. You'll be able to tell who you want as "sisters" It doesn't hurt at all to come to these events and expose yourself to the three houses. If you don't like any of them, at least you'll know in the Fall, if you decide to do recruitment, that they're not for you. And you're not too old to join as a Junior.

Wait for fall, then you can see all the sororities, not just the ones who aren't making quota like Kappa, and the others.
