What are my chances at Columbia and Princeton?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/forumdisplay.php?f=5

and one more thing...i took the hardest schedule possible..for my senior year I amtaking 6-7 APs.

stick to harvard lol

If you´re planning on applying to Columbia and Princeton, then why are you even asking about Brown PLME ed or not?

But applying to Brown ed is a tough decision. In my opinion, it all comes down to how much your parents are willing to pay for Brown. Say you apply ed to PLME and got accepted, hey wonderful news. But you applied ed, which means you´re technically bound to the school, which could also mean that they don´t have to offer you a ton of money. They can give you what in their opinion is an adequate amount, but which in reality really isn´t all that much. I think numerous people on cc will agree with me that Brown has a pretty skeet financial aid policy. When you receive your potential Brown financial aid package, included will be a letter from the financial aid office dictating that it will consider financial aid packages from similar schools. But if you apply ed, you technically don´t have potentially better financial aid awards from other schools. So all in all, ed in my opinion boils down more to money than anything else.

And there´s really no need to kill yourself with 6 or 7 AP´s, though the challenge will probably prep you a lot more for college level courses. All you really have to do to show colleges that you´re challenging yourself is to take a nice portion of all the AP´s and most of the Honor´s offered at your school. I highly doubt any admission officer is really gonna say, ¨Wow, I think I like A better than B b/c A took 2 more AP classes¨. You´ll also need plenty of time to continue your extracurriculars, homework, apps (which take a lot of time, effort, and thought), and sleep.

So good luck with your app(s) and future decision(s). :)

What chance do i have at HYPS? Guys help...thanks ahead of time

5% chance PLME
35% chance everywhere else

Why the hell are you doing PLME? You really don't appear to be into medicine at all.

red cross ****=medicine....amor....where do u get the magic numbers? 5%=thats so harsh

you don't even have clinical experience, how the hell are you supposed to know you want to be a doctor if you've never experienced it first hand?

How does she know if she wants to be a doctor? She's asian you idiot. That's how.

I am a he...everyone on CC is so harsh............and one doesn't need clinical experience do have decided....thats the point of PLME-to give you the experiences

LOL you're kidding, right?

so in the off-chance you got in, you would use that as your experience in becoming a doctor? and then what if you hate it? how could you possibly be willing to make that commitment without first EXPERIENCING it?

and this is what I mean--the adcoms will see right through you. giving you a 5% chance was generous.

so i would have more chance if i go the undergrad premed--do some clinical and then apply med?

Well yea...

BA/MD programs are very, very competitive for a reason...

did you think this was the only way to get into med school or what?

Wait - you mean people can apply after college? Get out!

what about usc, rice, or UCSD combined program? greater chance???

I think you've got a great chance at USC and Rice. UCSD will be hard because you're not from California....there are so many ppl with your stats that actually live here and they wanna go to UCSD as well. As for Brown PLME, they only have 60 spots open in that program so its hard for everyone. You stats are great so be open to other schools...and don't worry about some of these ppl on CC...guys like amor caelestis hate on everyone....he was really into telling me I had a 0% chance of getting into Brown Ed...i think he's racist(maybe a lil bit) Just work hard senior year...im taking 4 APs so we both will be pulling all nighters.

i don't hate on you, it's just that I am the only realist on all of CC and people like you can't handle it when someone tells you something that clashes with your preconceived conclusions, e.g. you getting into Brown

Theres no such thing as a realist when it comes to college admissions - the whole process is too surreal.
