<p>Liberal arts encompasses just about everything, including the natural sciences. Economics counts, as would any humanities (literature, philosophy, foreign language, fine arts, etc.) and social sciences (sociology, political science, etc.) interests you have.</p>
<p>Basically, the question is looking for your academic interests outside of hard science.</p>

<p>I don’t think the PLME essay has changed over the years, but I’m not sure since I don’t track that. But honestly – only Brown admissions knows its plans. No one else has a clue.</p>
