I know PLME is ridiculously hard to get into, but I’m going to try anyhow, so I’d just like to know the acceptance rate and such.
Oh, and I did meet a kid who got in whose resume seemed pretty similar to mine, but I don’t know if things have gotten tougher since she applied.

4%

.......

Not to hijack, but when Brown posts data for admission statistics, does that include PLME candidates?
In other words, does Brown's posted 13% acceptance rate take into account PLME's 4% admit rate? And if it does, then wouldn't that mean that non-PLME students have a higher acceptance rate than the posted 13%?

The small number of PLME applicants does not really affect the overall admit rate. Disregarding the PLME applicants, the overall admit rate would probably be 14% instead of 13% (if even that much). Moreover, the 4% admit rate is for PLME only... this fails to take into account that some PLME applicants are accepted to Brown but not into the program so it's impossible to say that 96 out of every 100 PLME applicants are rejected when some of those "rejected" from PLME are included in the "accepted" rate that is posted.

wait, you’re saying, you can apply to PLME,and if you get rejected from the program, they still consider you for Brown’s regular programs?

Yes. You must apply to Brown in order to apply to PLME. But not vice versa.

And yes, there are plenty who get into Brown, but not PLME.

keep this in mind: the thing about med programs is that there’s a pretty standard set of criteria as to what things you should have on your resume (hospital volunteering, high scores, scientific research and/or other medical experience) – of course, fulfilling these criteria doesn’t guarantee you admission, but not fulfilling basic expectations seems to deny you it, in general

so even though the numbers may indicate that med programs are more selective than, say, harvard or princeton, i’d say that if you have the expected things, you’ve got a good shot – you know, generally, what they’re looking for

my friend who got into PLME even said that he may not have gotten into brown had he not applied to PLME. it’s a different monster, ya know?
