PLME question

Theoretically, could you take the requirement courses for med school regularly, then just take everything else pass/fail?

You could also in theory go to a college that isn’t Brown and take only extremely easy non-PreMed classes. The question is, why would you want to? College is a time to explore; don’t pigeon-hole yourself by being so sure you’re going to medical school.

The PLME program guarantees you admission into their med school.

DanishPastry: in theory, yes. However, students who get into PLME are those who enjoy pushing themselves. Some non-PLME Brown students do elect to take every class S/NC ([" + artTitle.replace(“-”,“”) + " - " + “The Brown Daily Herald” + "](http://www.browndailyherald.com/off-the-mark-ditching-grades-for-s-nc-1.2519266)). The idea behind the S/NC grade option is not at all to make things easier; it’s to encourage students to take classes they may otherwise not take for fear of receiving a grade that would drop their GPA.

I hope this explains more about PLME and S/NC.

Thanks for the answer bruno

No problem. Feel free to post/PM any other PLME-related questions. I think I may be the only PLME who posts on here regularly, so I’m the one to ask.

And the fact that some students take a plethora of courses S/NC is certainly not always by choice. People forget that many courses are mandatory S/NC–all but one of my classes this semester are required S/NC. (And for the record, there hasn’t been a night this semester where I haven’t gone to bed before 3am–S/NC classes are just as rigorous and time consuming as classes one could take for a letter grade.)
