Plotting window help please!!! (Math 2)

<p>Math geniuses out there, how do we know which window to plot a function in?</p>

<p>Like say, I found a question that says if 2sin^2 x -3=3cosx. and 90<x<270
Its best to plot both the graphs and see where they intersect. So now its easy to put in the X min and max coz its already given in the qn, but how do we know what range to put in for the y values?</p>

<p>Are you using a TI graphic calculator? Do a Zoom 0 (zoom fit) function first then change the x values as specified in the question. Your maximum and minimum y values will definitely be in the correct range in this case and clearly visible, but you can change it to values bigger than that given to sort of ‘zoom out’ without changing x values.</p>
