Plowing Through the FAFSA

Hi all! :) I have a question. When the FAFSA asks whether my parents have "any scholarship aid reported to the IRS," Question 80, are they asking about the merit scholarship I received directly from UCONN intended for the 2005-2006 year? Or is that irrelevant?

I am definitely planning on attending UCONN in the fall, and I hope to send the FAFSA to outside scholarships that base their decisions on financial need. Thank you so much, and best of luck to everyone else who is pulling their hair out trying to figure out this process! :)

I don't think they would be talking about the scholarships that the school gave you because that is not taxed money (from what I know). I think you should contact your schools financial aid office for more details, but I think the only scholarship that I know to be reported to the IRS is the Hope Scholarship. But, I don't think any of the scholarships from the school have to be reported. Definitely call your financial aid office. I hear that a lot of the east coast schools are opening up tomorrow.

Okay, thanks bunches! :)
